I felt it necessary to make one of these for Cory after another brilliant performance tonight.

44 saves out of 46 shots, in a 3-2 win. What a beauty.

hes pretty much owning every goalie stat in the AHL except wins, but hes only played 37 games.
Here is your absolute, no-one-close surefire Quote of the Week and early Quote of the Season favorite, courtesy of the Canucks’ Kevin Bieksa.

Bieksa, in his first game back after spraining his MCL against the Flames last weekend, played somewhere between 12 and 14 minutes, depending upon who you believe, in the FIRST PERIOD of Sunday’s game with Chicago.

Said Bieksa, when informed of the stat:

“It [expletive] felt like it.”

Yeah baby.

And everyone in that three-way tie that puts him in fourth has played AT LEAST 9 more games.

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.

Schnieder has the potential to be every bit as good as Luongo, and he's better at handling the puck. But Carey Price, well, is a cross between Roy and Brodeur, butterfly and puck-handling top notch. For both goalies, they just need the spark to catch ablaze.

Such classic Canuck fan mentality. If a guy scores 50 goals, you get mad that he didn't score 51. If a goalie has a .950 save percentage, you complain that it's not .951.

While success at the AHL level doesn't guarantee success at the NHL level, there is a high level of correlation between the two. Conversely, poor performance at the AHL level and not being in the NHL are also very highly correlated.

success in the minors doesn't always lead to success in the bigs. until he can prove himself with the canucks, i'm not gonna get to excited.
Thanks to vancity09 for the Sig!

exactly

when Lou went out injured and they called Schneider up, everyone figured that he'd have a great go about things. Not the case. He's still far too young and fresh to face the level of competition the NHL will throw at him.

Soon, though...soon.

Thanks to TM.22 for the Sweet sig.

well having success in the AHL is a step towards the NHL for cory
you wouldnt call up cory if he straight up sucked in the AHL would you?

Salo should be making $1.5M, not $3.75M, especially when he is hurt. I like that Mitchell for Johnson proposal. Injecting youth into our defensive corps would be good for us. Johnson and Mitchell are similar players, Erik has more offensive upside though.

J Bo's a bum, Bieksa would mop the ice with him in most aspects of the game.

Actually, as Cory's career as shown to this point, what he needed was a string of games in a row to get acclimatized. At every ;evel he has shown that once he gets comfy he dominates. Had AV given him the starts he would have stepped up, I am sure of it. I don't blame AV, however, as they didn't have the wiggle room to let him work it out.

Does this mean he's our next captain too? Last time I checked most of Sanford's stats down there were better than Corey's. They were 1 and 2 in stats. Sanford wasn't good enough to be a back up here, so lets not get carried away. Manitoba is the best team in the league, they should have the best stats.
Don't get me wrong I hope he comes through and I think he will but it still could be awhile yet.
Hodgson said he does not yet have full power in his right leg and is lacking explosiveness in his first couple of strides on the ice.

But Gillis and his coach refused to use the injury as an excuse for Hodgson's sub-par camp.

"He's been cleared to play for 10 days and we're in a time frame now where things need to get better," Gillis said. "He needs to show that he is ready and capable of participating at this level on a good team." (Vancouver Province)
