If Jason Krog wins MVP, nobody cares.
If a 20 year old wins MVP, he'd be heralded as a future all star player.

Hopefully some people can understand that...

Using older players as examples is probably the dumbest thing you can do.

Thank you, i think you put the whole argument into something people can actually handle.

After this year, trade Luongo at the draft to Ottawa

Luongo

for

1st rounder
2nd rounder
Brian Lee
Brian Ellot

Not to mention the cap space from Luongo's departure. Let go of Ohlund, then you can even sign a Jay Bouwmeester type of player.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Demitra-Kesler-Grabner/UFA
Bernier-Hodgson-UFA/Grabner
Rypien-Johnson-Hordichuk

Bowmeester-Mitchell
Bieksa-Edler
Salo-Lee

Schneider
Elliot

I think that looks pretty damn good. History has shown Schneider just needs time to adapt his game to the new level of play. Elliot has shown he's more than capable in Ottawa and could step in to provide some immediate competition to Schneider.

If we don't trade Schneider this year on Draft Day, I'd expect him to get more starts at the big show. I really don't see him improving his development by staying at the AHL level another year.

Why would we trade Schnieder on draft day when

A. He hasn't had much experience at the NHL level.

And

B. We can't start negotiating an extension with Luongo until 6 days AFTER the draft.

Congrats to Cory, now lets see him lead the Moose to a Calder Cup (that's the trophy name right?).

Well we have Schneids till 10/11, it's pretty clear that he is dominating the AHL so what do we do next year? Handlebarbra is a UFA, I wouldn't be against having Schneider as Luu's backup. He'll get experience here and there, he gets to work with Luu directly obviously the only con being the lack of playing time. I for one really don't want to trade Cory unless we for sure get Luu locked up and trading Luu would be an interesting option, just rambling now

Thanks to marleau_12 for the sig

If Nucks go deep and it seems like Lu will sign a contract extension...I can see Schneider being moved for a 1st in the draft.
I think Dallas needs a premiere goaltending prospect as Turco is getting on in age.

Schneider + 1st (20+ overall) for Fistric + 1st (8th overall).

It addresses Dallas goaltending depth and Vancouver defensive depth.
The only problem is now Vancouver will have to pick goalies in future drafts and hope one can be as good as Schneider.

But I'm good with keeping Schneider since #1 goaltenders are hard to come by.

Wow, i don't see Dallas doing that. They need defensive depth as much as we do, with Zubov being done and all...

How about Colorado?
Their goaltending sucks big time and may be in the rebuilding phase.

Schneider + 1st (20+ overall) for 1st (3rd overall).

so we are going to trade top goalie prospect who has been developing for like 5 years since his draft year
and our 1st this year to get the third overall pick? we are giving them one heck of a goalie that just won AHL goalie of the year

you probably have matt duchene in mind? is he going to make the jump to the nhl right away? along with cody?
that would be nice combo indeed

Schneider + 3rd (not sure if we have our 3rd rounder)

Salo should be making $1.5M, not $3.75M, especially when he is hurt. I like that Mitchell for Johnson proposal. Injecting youth into our defensive corps would be good for us. Johnson and Mitchell are similar players, Erik has more offensive upside though.

J Bo's a bum, Bieksa would mop the ice with him in most aspects of the game.

Schneider is having his best showing in the AHL.
His stock is very high right now.

However, Luongo is having a stellar playoff and it's conceivable that he may want to sign a contract extension with the Nucks on July 1st.
I would think it would be at least a 3yr to 4yr contract extension.
If that happens...Schneiders development will stop as he won't be getting #1 goaltending duties anytime soon.
So trading him would be best for him and Nucks.

Like the poster above suggested...
Maybe Schneider for 1st (3rd overall) straight up is enough to make the deal happen.

Getting Duchene would be nice addition to our prospect pool.
Or Tavares or Hedman if NYI and TB don't pick what is expected of them.

The downside to this is that Nucks need to draft a goalie that has the same potential as Schneider in the upcoming drafts.

Have to see how he does at the nhl level before throwing praises at him. He wasn't very good up here while luongo was injured. AHL stats don't always translate to nhl success. Jason Labarbera had better numbers in the AHL than schneider posted.
I was wrong. The Sedins are legit superstars and are IRREPLACEABLE.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

seeing as barbie and sandman are both up on their contracts this year why wouldn't scheider play backup to bob next year? and he was fine when he came up, and never really had time to get used to the upgrade in tempo. He DID get a shutout though.

Problem with trading Schneider is there is no other goaltending depth in the organization at this time.
