Luongo = Cup, on May 6 2009, 12:57 PM, said:
it's not like tthe team consistently gave him much help, especially the San Jose game where they left him high and dry for 4 goals. The one game people point to is that Avs game, but he let in one bad goal and one iffy goal. I'm also not about to be worried because he got scored on 3 times by the best Shootout team in the league this season.

Huh, even if he panned out, he'll never be as good as luongo. He's only a backup plan right now if luongo leaves.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

No he was pretty bad while up here. I kept hoping he would perform better, but he never did. He had tons of chances to take the spot from sanford. He let in weak goals every game. It got so bad that AV stopped trusting him at all and then they made the trade for labarbera. AV was scared to death to play schneider. He had tons of chances and dropped the ball. Was really disappointed in his play while up here. AHL stats are nice, but I have to see him prove it at the nhl level before I jump on his bandwagon. Like I said, jason labarbera posted better stats than schneider while in the ahl.

If Gillis pulled that off, it would make the Naslund trade look bush league!

I don't think they want to place their hopes on Schneider.
I would think a team in a rebuilding phase that is in need of a young potential #1 goalie (ala Fleury, Mason, Ward) would trade for Schneider.
A few teams come to mind..
Colorado (no good goalie prospects)
TB (I don't think Smith is that good)
Toronto (although they won't trade their #1 pick).
NJ (Brodeur is getting on in age)
Dallas (Turco is getting on in age)
Edmonton (they need a shakeup)

philly is certainly taking a huge risk on emery if they sign him
possible that he will be splitting time? or will he be the #1 #1
from your list I still go with Colorado being the most likely trade partner
but the draft is before the july 1st
so we can't re-sign Lu before that
is it possible to have a verbal agreement with him?
never know who colorado is going to draft at #3

We can re-sign Lu on July 1st.
That's just 6 days.
I'm pretty sure MG will have a good idea if he can or cannot re-sign Lu before June 26th.
Especially if we go deep in the playoffs...I see no reason why Lu wouldn't re-sign.
His family has moved up here (from what I heard/read).
We can be a team that continually competes for the cup.

Don't you realize that unless Schneider posted back to back SOs his debut would be considered a failure on these boards? The Canuck team was a disaster at the time but what dif does that make?
Next to Hodgson he is the most talented player the Canucks have in the system. That said players values are often determined by what they bring in the trade market. Canucks still need a dependable, sscoring, power forward. Bernier has shown flashes but is it enough? If Sundin doesn't play again, and if MG wants to resign him, then a big center might be needed.

A. Makes the team and Raycroft mans the pipes in Manitoba
B. Gets traded after Lu agrees to extension
I don't see him back in Manitoba, but you never know.
It's a tough call, but I think he has every chance to be in the NHL this year if he performs well at camp.
