On the Spitfires site it says that he is a 1990 birth, but eligible in 2010 for draft... is this just an error, or does it have to do with the leafs inviting him to their prospect camp this year?

18 points in 15 playoff games dwarfs his regular season numbers, but may be somewhat inflated due to his playing for Windsor.

From what i have seen he has the Wellwood moves in close, but suffers because like his brother he is relatively small and weak. (All coordination and no athleticism)

If there was a Wellwood who was 6'4 220 and athletic he might just be the best player in the NHL.

If he is eligable it could be worth drafting in the 4th or 5th round. Has playoff success and has talent. Talent can't be learned. Fitness levels can be fixed.

Who said Eric was talented?

Quite the contrary, all I've read is that he is not nearly as talented as his brother.

And just because Kyle has had fitness problems DOES NOT mean Eric has problems with fitness.

This is just terrible logic all around.

Sounds like Joe Thornton!

yeah he is a hard worker, a checking forward in the NHL at most which I don't mind at all.
If he had the same hands as his brother oh baby.

Eric Wellwood was not dradted last year...he's 19, born in 1990...so he could be drafted this year. He was invited to a Toronto Maple LEafs training camp last summer. Also, he's a diff type of player than Welly is, especially if you compare their roles/styles in the OHL. Either way, little Welly is turning into a good player. But he's only become this good of a player this season in the OHL, doesn't mean he's worth picking up. He'll def need time in the AHL or wherever to develop.

Yes, I'm a Leafs AND Canucks fan!

(despite the fact that the Leafs have a 1% chance of making the playoffs right now)

We should also try and trade with the Rangers to get Tom Pyatt, Taylors younger brother. Then ship Demitra back to Minny with Raymond for Mikko Koivu and sign Saku as a UFA:P

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Koivu Koivu Kesler
Wellwod Hodgson Bernier
Tom Pyatt Johnson Taylor Pyatt
E.Wellwood

anyone know if Kesler has a brother?? :)

He does, he's in that video where Kesler does motion stuff for EA. I think his name is Rob, but yeah, he's not in hockey.

Just watching Eric Wellwood play in Windsor's opening Memorial Cup game. Man, he's got some MAJOR wheels. Looks like he could turn out to be a serviceable NHL'er.

Quite the contrary, I heard on the Team 1040, I believe it was the Battalion head coach Stan Butler, talking about Eric and he said he doesn't have Kyle's hands but he's in better shape than Kyle Wellwood ever has.

Ryan Johnson has a brother who played for the Wings, Preds, Hawks, and Pens... he was the captain for the Predators for years, I seem to recall. :)
