Imagine Hodgson playing with Taveras on the same team. We have to thank the Islanders for not drafting Hodgson last year, Bailey's up to them.

That the scariest thought of all! Especialy after the WJC they were a scary pair a and wish that the Canuck had both.
YEp! the sad thing is Islanders once again screw up and those two would of definately pulled the franchise out of the whole .
They could of had a dynamic pair that woulf of rivaled the likes of chicago.
Thank goodness for the rest of the league the can never do anything right ie. Diepetro maybe they'll be smart enough to build off Hedman. I doubt they'll figure that out but I'm sure Bettman and Toronto will convince them on it and in the end it will work for them.

Man if they would done what they should of and took Hodgson one could not imagine the hype.

Hodgson is better for now, but once Tavaras Yzermanizes himself, he'll become the better player.

Please define the verb "To Yzermanize".

Thanks. I have my doubts that Tavares can do it but if he puts his mind to it I think he can.

Wasn't Hodgson the one compared to Yzerman recently...? :P

But seriously, Tavares is more offensively gifted/"explosive" who knows what will happen as they enter the bigs and mature but I'm certainly not upset we "only" have Cody. My guess is this is similar to (SIMILAR, NOT A DIRECT COMPARISON) to Crosby vs Ovi. Ovi's arguably more offensively talented/explosive but Crosby's arguable a better all-around player. For the record no, I'm not saying Hodgson is as good as Crosby

(I just know some moron is going to twist this post out of context even with all these warnings...)

Nah, the difference: Leadership and all round game.

Hodgson has it, Tavares doesn't.

Didn't Daigle average almost a point more per game than Tavares in junior? Chris Pronger taken after Daigle, Hedman taken after Tavares???

Good, you guys are thinking just like me.

hodgson +- +41
tavares +- +10

voted hardest woker, best faceoff guy, best penalty killer all with Tavares playing in the same league. Did cody really improve that much? Also it seemed like Cody was the best player on team canada(no bias) even with tavares on the same team.

t think coho led the tourny in points too.

Yeah I know that already, just stating the example because the draft position does not always mean the player will turn into a superstar.

Cody Hodgson is more of a Franchise player that General Managers would love to build their team around. It's players like Cody Hodgson: leadership, character, and leads by example on the ice. John Tavares should never be mistaken as a leader of a hockey team, nevermind at the age of 18. Therefore, Tavares is more of a 1-dimensional goal scorer as scouts have said.

But in all seriousness, I'd trade Cody Hodgson for John Tavares STRAIGHT UP if that is what the Islanders or Lightning want to do. Common. Tavares will be a major player in the NHL with that scoring ability, Hodgson could be a very consistent offensive contributor and leader, which is not a knock on Cody at all. Just fits in the team's system differently.

As for the coming draft, it is unlikely we land Tavares, and I wrote something about Mike Gillis interview speaking about the draft here.

If you are interested, check out what other people have written on teams around the league. That's for true hockey fans of course.
