Nice...

The Moose are in the AHL final, so that'll be good experience for him in preparation of next year.

Yup. It's a long season for Cody though

Hodgson to the Moose.

By Jim Jamieson 05-09-2009 COMMENTS(0) The White Towel

Cody Hodgson will be wearing a Manitoba Moose jersey within the next few days.

The Vancouver Canucks’ top prospect, whose Brampton Battalion OHL team was eliminated in the league final on Friday by Windsor Spitfires, confirmed that he’s been contacted by Canucks’ director of player personnel Dave Gagner and will travel to Winnipeg Tuesday or Wednesday to join the Moose.

The Moose are waiting to see who they will face in the AHL semi-final series, which will begin on Friday. They will play the winner of the Houston/Milwaukee series.

Hodgson, who was named the OHL’s player of the year and received numerous other accolades this season, told The Province on Saturday he’s excited about his first taste of AHL action.

“I’ll be a new experience for me,” said Hodgson, taken 10th overall by Vancouver in last June's entry draft. “I’m definitely looking forward to it. I know the players will be a little bigger and a little faster. It’ll be an adjustment.”

Just where Hodgson might fit in with the high-flying Moose isn’t clear. Manitoba has had an excellent season and are coming off a North Division championship in the regular season.

On Wednesday, the Moose completed the first playoff series sweep in franchise history, eliminating the Grand Rapid Griffins in four straight.

Hodgson, a centre, could fit in on the team’s third or fourth lines, displacing Alex Bolduc or Mario Bliznak, but may also be asked to play on the wing.

“I’ll play where ever they want me to play,” said Hodgson.

Hodgson led the Battalion in playoff scoring, with 11-20-31 in 21 games.

Guys chill, its not even known that he will play yet. Why would you ruin the chemistry?

Sorry to burst your bubble bursting bubble, but I don't see Hodgson as a guy who can ruin chemistry on a team...

Beach on the other hand...

I ahve doubts that Hodgson will play and if he does it won't be until they need a sub, or they are up in the series. What would that say to the rest of the team? They worked together for 10 months to get to that point and for CH to come in and take someone's place is not a good way to start his pro career. The Moose, don't forget, are a soveriegn team and are their priority is to be successful in Manitoba, the development of Canucks players comes second. If they need a player, or he really wows them this week in practice, then I could see him playing on Friday.

Great news. Hopefully the Moose can win the Calder, with Hodgson chipping in a few goals of course!
