Why mess with a working line up?
If someone gets injured I can see him or Ellington slotting in, but beyond that...

He'll probably make the world junior team and I'm always more interested in that when a Canuck prospect is playing.
As for right now, the Moose are pretty deep on defense, so its no surprise that Sauve and Ellington aren't playing.

I really think he'll turn out to be a great stay-at-home D-man for us. Wasn't he projected to be a first rounder as well?
Playing with the juniors for another year and than going up to the moose for a couple years would really benefit him a lot

[Nash(5.400)] - [Brassard(.800)] - [Gaborik(7.500)]
[Whitney(3.550)] - [Bergeron(4.750)] - [Ryan(.800)]
[Paille(1.125)] - [Nokelainen(.850)] - [Svatos(2.050)]
[Carter(.625)] - [Steckel(.725)] - [Stortini(.700)]
[Stastny(.650)] Bouchard(4.080) O'Bryne(.942) :LTIR
[Mitchell(3.500)] - [Zidlicky(3.350)]
[Picard(.800)] - [Tallinder(2.562)]
[Boynton(1.500)] - [Oduya(3.500)]
[Mottau(.762)]
[Anderson(1.812)]
[Hedberg(1.087)]

Sauve was projected as a first rounder the year before he was draft eligible. In his draft year, people began to notice little problems in his game. I doubt people ever touted Sauve as a stay at home d-man. IMO he's more of a two way d-man.

The leagues number 1 team already had a deep D core with:
Baumgartner
Fortunas
Heska
Fitzgerald
McIver
Fistric
Ramsey
Then:
Erhardt
Rahimi
Sauve
Oberg
Ellington
That is the reason. If we had a shallow D core we'd see our late addition CHLers playing, but if that were the case, they probably wouldn't be in the playoffs at all.
They get to practice with the team and get a head start on the pro style of game and way of life.
Next year, Dallas will have their own AHL team and Fortunas + Fistric will be gone.
There will be spots available for Ellington and Oberg next season and hopefully for Erhardt.
Rahimi is looking like he won't have an NHL future at this point.

He was putting up points prior to joining Major Junior, but he haven't had the same success since. Maybe another year in junior will help his offensive game a bit. He might still have the hands, but maybe it's his confidence that's holding him back. Confidence is very important to any pro athlete... eg. Naslund 2002 vs Naslund 2007. Hopefully Yann Sauve will dominate next year, being a man among boys.

I always have high hopes for Rahimi. Obviously his mindset and maturity level is pretty good.... wasn't he like captain for one of Sweden's world junior squad or at least the U-18 one?
He might just be a Bryan Allen-type project, a big defenceman with a mean-streak. Unfortunately, he'll need more than just having a mean-streak to make it into the NHL, since the Canucks already have O'Brien, Davison, McIver and Fitzgerald who are willing to mix things up and drop their gloves if needed.
If he has no future with Vancouver, maybe the Canucks should try to trade him to Detroit, maybe they might need more Swedes (albeit, he's not exactly the prototypical Swede), lol.

His lack of mobility is just not going to cut it IMO.
