National Hockey League (NHL) - Canuck's newcomer Sergei Shirokov (Vancouver Canucks) released some words to Soviet Sports:
I'm leaving for the NHL with a clean conscience, I always dreamed to play in the world's strongest league. There are no resentments with CSKA, before the session I had a talk with head coach Sergei Nemchinov and we understood each other. I will soon leave to take part to Vancouver's development camp.
08/10/2009 CSKA Moscow: Denis Parshin (Colorado Avalanche) signs a deal, Sergei Shirokov (Vancouver Canucks) no.
Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) - Today was the last day for Denis Parshin (Colorado Avalanche) and Sergei Shirokov (Vancouver Canucks) to sign new deals with CSKA in order to avoid a 1 year KHL disqualification. Denis Parshin (Colorado Avalanche) decided to sign, while Sergei Shirokov (Vancouver Canucks) didn't, thus meaning that 99.9% he's going to play in Vancouver for the upcoming season.
