So in your opinion, could you see Shirokov making the team next year as a third liner?

Talent Analysis
Small and undersized at 5’10, 176 lbs, Shirokov is not a fast skater, but is described by the Canucks scouting staff as being a very strong skater. He does not possess dynamic offensive skills, but has the vision and finishing ability to potentially develop into a supporting scorer at the NHL level, and could prove to be a very valuable player for the Canucks if he can round out his defensive game.
w/e....i dont understand what all the OMG is about

Take every good Russian 1st or 2nd line player in the NHL and see how many goals they score in russia
15-20 goals usually translates to 25-35 in the NHL
Idiots like you are the reason ive been banging my head on the wall for the last few seasons when guys like Shirokov get brought up and ill-informed fair weather fans make rash and uneducated judgments about a player they only heard of 5 seconds befiore they hit Add Reply

wow settle down....people that ask questions make you bang your head against the wall?
then what do you do when people start comparing players like this to the likes of bure and mogilny?
you really need to learn what to expect on forums. I admit, i dont know much about this Sergei fella....hence me asking some questions and making comparisons....
are you not an ill-informed fair weather fan when u get so angry for some1 questioning a player?

9. Sergei Shirokov, F
5'10, 176
03/10/1986, Moscow, Russia
6th round, 163th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks
Currently playing for CSKA Moscow
One of the hottest players in this period, Shirokov is a player who under the radar is getting very good statistics playing in the top lines of CSKA Moscow. The playmaking forward has already set his career high in points with 36, with seven more games to go in which he can further improve his point production. He clicks very well with Denis Parshin (COL) and the two make an interesting undersized duo. The question with him is kind of common in this feature: will Shirokov cross the ocean?
