His stats last year playing on CSKA Russia in the KHL are 17 goals and 24 assists in 56 games. He led his team in points. Here's a youtube video of some of his highlights:

My question is, how good is this guy really? I know Gillis just signed him, do you its simply a depth move and he will be playing on the Moose all year? Is he good enough to make it on the big club?

Just wondering what you guys are thinking as I'm having a hard time assessing his skill.

Edler - Mitchell
Bieksa - Salo

maybe you should look into the shirokov thread in the trades/rumor section
im sure you will find something new in there

Salo should be making $1.5M, not $3.75M, especially when he is hurt. I like that Mitchell for Johnson proposal. Injecting youth into our defensive corps would be good for us. Johnson and Mitchell are similar players, Erik has more offensive upside though.

J Bo's a bum, Bieksa would mop the ice with him in most aspects of the game.

Better than Pyatt, which is who he will replace IMO.

He's pretty good. We'll see how he does this coming pre-season. I haven't been following him.

well to be honest, the original thread about him in this section was kidnapped by off topic discussion. Won't hurt to have a fresh start solely on how good he is :D

AT 3-5 Million a season Luongo is a good goalie, anything more is robbery.

Who would you rather have for the money Malkin, Ovechkin, Crosby or Luongo? Choice is simple I am not picking the guy with the over inflated pads.

p.s.

And unless LUongo wins an award and or makes the conference finals, he was no better than Cloutier.

in fact, Cloutier went farther in the playoffs with the canucks than Luongo has.

I believe GM MG signed him to a two-way contract. This means that he has enough skill and mojo to play in the AHL. I would say if GM MG signs or trades for a Russian to be with the big club this year, that's a bit of an indication that SS might challenge for a job in the big league......let's see what training camp brings. I'm curious how good his English is.

I really hope NHL bans the empty net. F**K YOU NHL, you don't give (a warning to new players) for too many men on ice, yet you got the shame not to enforce banning an empty net.

samsonov has quietly ressurected his career in Carolina. Though he's not putting up much for numbers anymore, he's become an effective 2 way player who is able, at least, to contribute at both ends of the ice. He's not the player he once was, but he seems to have found a good niche in Carolina.

It's the system he is given in Carolina where he can be effective on a scoring role. T.Ruutu, E.Cole, and J.Jokinen are all looking good on the hurricanes team after looking miserable on their old teams.

Thanks, RK.17 for the Sig!

I think he'll be a solid 3rd-2nd liner. His stats are pretty impressive because it's harder to score in the KHL and the other European leagues.... or thats just what i heard.
