considering he is pretending to be Marian Hossa.. but you are too incompetent to realize this... therefore, his joke, that flew over your head, was saying that Shirokov was a little worse then Marian Hossa..
try and keep up

I think it's because they make it so that an assist has to directly lead to a goal. So like if a defense-man hands the puck off to a forward behind the net, the forward then goes end-to-end and scores, that defense-man doesn't get an assist because does he really deserve it?

So Shirikov is a step below guys that put up point per game or more numbers in the NHL? I like it, I like it a lot. Shows that he could be ready to jump into a second line role, IMO.
Also, in the highlight real shown, I noticed that Shirokov drove to the net more than I remember him doing in the World Juniors. As I remember he stayed more to the outside and dashed into the middle more in the WJC. If this highlight clip is an indication of how he plays regularly it looks like he is willing to go to the corners and drive the net now which I like.

I'm quite impressed. Based on these stats, Shirokov had 0.83 pts of Radulovs. If Radulov can score 58 pts in the NHL, then shirokov can score 48. This is all hypothetical that Shirokov can produce in North America like Radulov.
If you make the same calculations with Jagr, Shirokov had 0.75 pts of Jagr. If Jagr scored 71 pts in the last season that he played in the NHL, shirokov can score 54 points in the NHL. That's good enough to be around second line totals.
I just hope he has a smooth transition to the nhl.

"Shirokov is a very good person, a down to earth kind of guy. I actually don't know about his English but he is a smart kid. Personally, I think he has the right mind to make it in Canada. As a player, Shirokov is a great talent who loves to play hockey. He has great skill, very fast and comes out of tight situations. Shirokov is Russian in his style of play and how he thinks hockey. He's a very entertaining player to watch."

This is one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen. I realize Canuck fans go overboard with their projections of players, but to wish someone doesn't turn out to be a star (it's a possibility) is ridiculous. I wish you cheered for Calgary and that all your dreams would come true.

That's because it hasn't been confirmed. Shirokov is in court to get out of his contract with CSKA, he already lost once and appealed. So far no real word on his appeal but if you check CSKA website, Shirokov is on their 09-10 roster.

I'm lovin' Shirokov's celi's too haha.
But he looks like a pretty good player, good hands, solid on his feet. I'm not sure if he will make the team this season, maybe play a year with the Moose and go from there.
