No thanks, that Neanderthal was a -11 last season. Why would you want to get rid of an awesome defensive D-man such as Mitchell, for a defensive liability like that overrated slug named Dion? Going backwards if you ask me. No I do not think this way because he is a Flamer, ONLY because he is NOT as good as everyone seems to think. Although the fact he is a Flamer does make me HATE him more.

I don't think Phaneuf is overrated - he was nominated for the Norris 2 years ago. True, he had an absolutely terrible season last year but he has the potential to be one of the top d-men in the league.

Kesler was lucky to score 20 this year since the injury to Morrison allowed him to do so.

I doubt Kesler would ever break 15 goals in his career again.

He seems to be one of those players who was told he was good a little too often and his head has his body convinced he doesn't need to improve or try that hard anymore. Wouldn't be surprised to see him spiral further down versus regain his early form.

Clutch @ Oct 3 2008, 12:34 PM - Alex Burrows, I fail to see the reason why nobody questions his ability to play in the nhl. He can't skate; its ridiculous. IMOP Alex Burrow's an embarrassment to the team. Please Gillis let this guy go and keep Krog or Pettinger or Brown whoever.

I think you're correct; I live in Calgary and listen the Fan 960 daily and this is a recurring theme on the show. They kept stating that Phaneuf was "proud" and had to "learn how to learn", etc (and this was from assistant coaches). I think if you read between the lines they're saying that Phaneuf is pretty arrogant and isn't very coachable.

I am going to hold on to this one for when were under 500 at the quarter pole. There is no way a roster like this can make the playoffs.
Unless Luongo can stand on his head and I mean on his left ear, there is no way this club goes anywhere. I bet were under 500 after the first 20 games. This being said, with our current roster. We'll see who's on the crack Kobracom77.

Here is a bold statement, if the season were to start right now, I think a healthy team from last season could beat a healthy team from this season.

QUOTE (tribaljohn @ Jul 28 2008, 10:04 AM) *
Canucks would be lucky to finish 5th last overall forget 5 in the conference.
It well take 96 points to get into the the playoffs this season.
I don't see the Canucks even getting to the post season at this point -- if every body plays above expectations -- if the defence stays healthy -- if Sundin signs here -- this team might get 90 points -- still not enough to get in.

I totally agree OP with the notion of trading him for whatever we can get. But the idiot former GM NoNuts signed him to a NTC which means we have to ask him to waive it or buy him out all to which I am for. But judging by the way he played in the playoffs I don't think there are many teams that would be takers considering his overpriced salary.

I sure hope mike gillis force the slow skater defenseman to waive his NTC! we dont want mitchell,i like him as a person but not as a player. He is just too slow to be playing the new NHL. Isnt that what you all say to ohlund a while back? we need to be faster and grittier..oh did i say grit? yeah he doesnt hit anymore like he used to!

maybe we could get a 4th or 5th rounder for him?

If anything, I'd like to see him traded along with a 2nd round pick for Phaneuf. Phaneuf lit up the score board last year and hes young. Anyone that doesn't like him is just on a calgary hating band wagon.

But Mitchell is pretty good I wouldn't want to see him go for anything less
