If I had to choose between moving Mitchell or Bieksa I would move Mitchell.

Exactly...Mitchell had a great season. I think most people turned against him because of his play against the Blackhawks which is ridiculous.
Just like how people wanted to trade Luongo after he let in 7 goals in game 6.
Main point is. We have to keep Mitchell.

exactly, where was mitchell then? riding his long stick?

he cant even make a slap shot without getting blocked. but we could get a better Shutdown defenseman and is a fast skater.

you want grit on d? Isnt that was Mitchell is know for being a hard working gritty player.... this isnt the first trade Mitchell topic i've seen and i am very disappointed in these fans. This guy is a leader, hard worker, role model not to mention still a very good defenceman. I may agree that we need some more speed on the back end but that doesnt mean trade Mitchell.

I really hope NHL bans the empty net. F**K YOU NHL, you don't give (a warning to new players) for too many men on ice, yet you got the shame not to enforce banning an empty net.

I rarely come to canucks talk because of the stupidity that lies in here
Less then five minutes in this part of the forum, and 99% of the users that habitate in here have the IQ's of preschoolers . . .
Why would you trade mitchell when Ohlund is gone (I wish this would not happen) for sure, and Mitchell uses brains not brawns to do his job. The +/- should prove he is capable of being a defensive dman

Canucks of the Future
Rodin-Hodgson-Grabner
Shirokov-Schroeder-Anthony
Kablukov-Walsky-Rai
Matson-Bliznak-Bolduc

Sauve-Connauton
Ellington-Price
Andersson-Oberg
Fredheim

Schneider
Cannata

a couple changes and we could be a solid team with one of the best Defensive cores in the league, and i dont believe losing mitchell would help our cause... fast puck moving PP Defense guy, and we are set i believe, defensively, lots of young talent in Edler, Salo has a boomer of a shot, Mitchell is IMO grittier than alot of D in the West, Bieksa is also really valuable to us. Bring in someone who can man the PP and skate fast and we look pretty solid from the Net out.

I sure hope mike gillis force the slow skater defenseman to waive his NTC! we dont want mitchell,i like him as a person but not as a player. He is just too slow to be playing the new NHL. Isnt that what you all say to ohlund a while back? we need to be faster and grittier..oh did i say grit? yeah he doesnt hit anymore like he used to!

maybe we could get a 4th or 5th rounder for him?

and u need to shut the FU*K up

yes he does have a career year, but it doesnt help him skate fast. his +/- last season doesnt mean anything this coming season. he will have a hard time defending this coming season.

I think people are overreacting...

i just traded you to the sens forum, i tried to get a bag of pucks but they will only give me the bag
QUOTE (G0NUCKSG0 @ Jun 3 2009, 05:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Salo should be making $1.5M, not $3.75M, especially when he is hurt. I like that Mitchell for Johnson proposal. Injecting youth into our defensive corps would be good for us. Johnson and Mitchell are similar players, Erik has more offensive upside though.

J Bo's a bum, Bieksa would mop the ice with him in most aspects of the game.

Willie does his job very well. One of the top +/- guys in the nhl. For the money we pay him he couldn't be replaced that easy.

4th defencman in the league last year +/-.......and keep in mind he is not an offensive defencman so all those PLUSES are huge ones. The guys ahead of him all have twice as many pts!....only guy close in pts and similar style is seabrook and he is +6 back and he plays with Keith. So for shutdown defencman he has the best +/- by far.

Crazy talk. And keep in mind you need that big body to plough the fields in front of Luo of all those BIG power forwards.
