Trevor Linden is a Vancouver legend...his entire speech was giving props to everyone but himself...a true champion.

A. This should help the Sedins sign for long term, but for a cheap cap-hit.
B. Same for Kesler (he'll have to put his money where his mouth is on playing under market value)
C. Free agents will be more likely to sign here for cheaper
D. Frees up Schneider to be traded, either immediately or after shining as Luongo's backup in 20 games next year.
We'll know once we see the contract, but it would be nice to create a Detroit effect where players want to be here.
Of course, he could also be gouging us, and the rest would go out the window.

Or as Brian Burke would say, drug induced dillusions.
Tuukka Rask was traded for a fat, overweight, and crappy Andrew Raycroft.
Al Montoya was traded for a package that included a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners and a similar quality prospect David Leneveu.
The Ducks couldn't give away Ilya Bryzgalov.
It's unfortunate that one of the Canucks top prospects is a goaltender in a sense, because no-one is giving you a blue-chip forward or dman prospect in return.
I suppose they might have a shot at Tavares or Duchene if they are dangling Schneider+Edler+1st rounder or something to that extent but there's no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks that anyone takes a Schneider for the 2nd or 3rd overall offer seriously.

SUNDIN IS COMING. LOOK BUSY.

Hossa and Gaborik are alot more riskier than the Sedins (especially Gaborik) and will both of them cost about $3-$4 Million more per year......not worth it IMO for a few more goals.

I'm taking a wild shot with reading between the lines here, but IF Luongo signs, before the draft, this most likely means that this deal is done.
Schneider won't be playing here for atleast another few years. They need a goalie and Schneider would be great for them.
^^
I was referring to #2 pick proposal when the rumour emerged.
You're halfway there Gillis...Half way there!

I would have sent a letter bomb to Gillis if he traded a 2nd and a 3rd for Schneider.

I sure hope so but we might have to give up a lot to get top 3. I don't think #1-#2 are for sale. #2 could be only if Islanders take Hedman.

Honestly there is no way in hell Gillis gets this deal done so fast he had the whole summer to negotiate with Luongo. There has to be something in the works that somehow involves Schneider. I'll be sad to see him go but if it brings in a Duchene, Hedman or Tavares, I'M ALL FOR IT.

1. Luongo and Canucks agree to extension before draft day.
2. Gillis packages Schneider, Bieksa, and 22nd overall for 2nd overall.
3. Gillis trades a pick for J-Bo's rights.
4. Gillis signs J-Bo as a replacement for Bieksa.
5. Sedins and Gillis aren't able to reach agreement.
6. Gaborik signs in his favourite city to play with his friend, as a replacement for the Sedins.
7. Neidermayer bros both sign here. Scotty replaces Ohlund, Rob to solidfy our bottom 6.
All these rumours have come from different sources, but they all seem to fit together nicely.
