Jordan Schroeder.... didnt really think we can land this guy in the 22nd pick, but I won't complain much.

so let's talk about him~ what kind of a player is he? Since this guy is a projected 14th-17th pick in most of the mock drafts, I didn't really check this guy out. It seems like alot of people is pretty happy about him since most of the reports stat he's a very talented player. Very good speed, very strong shot, a great playmaker who can make his teamates around him better, it's just too good to think we can land him in the 22nd pick.

But that being said, it seems one of the biggest draw back on Jordan Schroeder is his small size (173 cm) and I am not sure how this will effect his career in the NHL in the future.

Would be nice to see what you guys think of him. :D

oh so what your saying is datsyuk and st. louis suck just cause they are small

so where will Schroeder end up into next year? Stay in NCAA? Would be nice to see him in the training camp, but I doubt he will play for the canucks next year due to his size :C

Schroeder did play on the top line and top pp units. The problem is, Ryan Stoa will be tough to replace and Schroeder may struggle just a bit without a big forward with skill such as Stoa.

Stoa is a center as well, did they actually play together other than the PP?

His season last year is VERY impressive, looks like a steal at this point. If Pat Kane can be as successfull as he is at his size in the western conference Schroeder should be fine, hes thicker and stronger. Another good pick by Gillis.

Isin't he in the same team with pat white?

Yeah. Same team. You'd figure this might give a extra confidence boost to both players.

Do not give this guy the expectations of being the next Yzerman etc..

I think he will be good, but Gillis will let him develop and bring him up when he is ready.

He should spend at least another year in the NCAA. With Stoa gone. Schroeder will be to "go to" guy with the Gophers. Plus, he'll go back to World JR USA. Lots of experience can be gained.

suck? no

but it is a reasonable concern :D I am very exciting about acquiring him, but rationally you just can't overlook his lack of size since this is probably his only drawback from being a complete package~

as for your examples, St. Louis is 175 cm who took him until his late 20s to have a break out year. and Schroeder is 2 cm shorter than him.

Datsyuk is 180 cm......

"My personal opinion is that he's a little bit of an overrated player," Giese said. "In college and at the world junior championship, when games got physical he tended to disappear. He's a very intelligent player, great skill, gifted playmaker, he makes those around him better. I think he'll be a good complementary offensive player in the NHL but I wouldn't take him in the top 10. I don't think he's going to be a guy that's going to carry the load."

Not sure who Giese is, but this is his report on him. I don't know much about this kid, not really excited about it until I do some more research??

Depends how long he wants to stay in the NCAA.

I think Schroeder could play in the NHL in a year. Of course, it depends how he performs.

Wish we landed the 21st, or 23rd and took Moore or Erixsson and Schroeder.

Ya i expect him to be a winger in the NHL, just wondering if he played behind or with Stoa.

well his size is probably his only drawback from being the top 10 pick~ I mean you can't really expect us to draft a guy like him with a 22nd pick if he got the size too right?

from what I heard, he had excellent skating speed and a very good playmaker. His shots are pretty strong too.

Jordan did pretty damn good at the combine
So strength shouldnt be a big issue..its his reach/his size that's kind of a concern, BUT a great pick!

His size is going to be a problem. I see Schroeder being a dynamic scorer in the NHL but he isn't going to be the "go to guy".

Hodgson will play the roles of Toews. Schroeder will play the role of Kane. If all goes well.

Schroeder leaned a bit on Stoa last year. So he may not have better season next year.

Remember, he is playing with Men in college. Unlike the OHL/CHL players.

hmm potential future linemate for cody hodgson? Man adding a guy like Schroeder just makes the future seem so much brighter. This is the second year in a row we've lucked out.

Nice to see another great pick fall into our laps for the second year in a row.
Good pick. Though I was kind of hoping for a d-man like Moore.

To be fair. Gillis has been lucky to have such deep drafts. 2008/2009/2010 will and so far have been very good drafts.

2011 seems to be a terrible draft year at this point. So, I would expect good picks next year as well.

With Luongo sitting at the draft table and announcing the pick, do you think he has agreed to a contact extension??
