Signed with the Vancouver Canucks on June 1st/2010. Source
Canucks just picked him! With the 53rd pick. He is a LW/RW from Sweden. Tampa took Panik before us, and Orlov went after us with Gelinas

Anton Rödin

# Position: RW
# Shoots: Left

# Weight: 174 lbs
# Birthdate: 1990-11-21
# Eligible for Draft: 2009

Rödin's offensive game stands out thanks to his superb skating, his shot, hockey sense and puck handling. Usually scores quite spectacular goals and does not shy away from playing physical. Could use some more strength though. He has the offensive arsenal to be a productive player in the future, but has also the fundamental skills to be used as a role- and checkling line player.

Looks like a good pick from what I've read. Wonder how MG will adress the defence issue?

Can't say I'm dissapointed, because I honestly don't know much about him, but I'm not happy we passed on Michael Latta, Thomas Tatar, and Taylor Doherty.

Lets hope this is a good signing. He has a pretty cool name though.

I predict he will make the team in 3-4 years.

I knew quite a bit about this guy pre-draft.

Obviously a Gradin special. I wonder if he had some inside information on other teams having him high, as I personally had hoped for him at 83.

I would have loved a little Canadian grit in the 2nd with Latta/Howse, but I'm extremely pleased with Rodin.

This guys numbers are gaudy in the J-20 swedish league.......not a lot of guys put up points like that, especially goals.

Dont want to get the hopes too high, but reading his scouting report on elite prospects make him sound like a mix between Datsyuk and Alfredsson.

Orlov would be a KHLer for life if he was taken by the Canucks in the mold of Kirill Koltsov.

Washington is probably one of 5 teams that could actually convince him to come over.

Dammit, Detroit got Landon Ferraro and Tatar! I like this selection. Seems like a good speedy winger with a good shot.

IMO the green men should accentuate their bulge so the opposing team is not only humiliated but intimidated.

Gradin is ridiculously over rated. He found, Edler through random luck. Don't reckon he deserves credit for Sedins, since they were labeled donkey blue chip prospects. Ohlund maybe..i cant be sure. but that is what he has accomplished since 93-94....

the guy is just lame as delorme.

He's also the one that said to draft Jannik Hansen in the 9th Round

Edler was luck? Yeah, how lucky of him that he accidentally said the words "draft Edler"

It wasn't luck that he drafted Edler. I saw somewhere that he knew the Red Wings were interested in Edler so he got Vancouver to try and draft him.

What is so special about Hansen? Players of his caliber are easily available. he has third line potential written all over him, nothing more. If i recall correctly, Edler's coach was a friend of Gradin, and alerted him that Red wings were coming to scout Edler.

Rahimi, Froshaug are also credited with being Gradin specials. sine 94 when he signed on with Vancouver, these are the players Gradin has delivered.

This hype given to Gradin can be warranted if he is able to deliver another player of edler's potential. Till then lets at least try and be objective.

I don't think it's an issue of how special a player Hansen is, the fact that he is an NHL level player is enough. Rarely have the Canucks ever had late picks pan out, so some credit is due. Though you are correct, it's not as if Gradin is the best scout ever. It's more of a situation where he's managed to produce more NHL calibre players with arguably fewer picks at his disposal than Delorme managed to produce with the majority of the picks.

It's not that Hansen is destined for super stardom, it's the fact that he's one of the last 9th rounders and is an NHL player right now. If we could draft someone like Hansen every late round, it goes a long way to building organizational depth.

I agree to an extent, he's a good scout, but I wouldn't classify him as "great" yet in my books. The praising is largely due to the fact that he has actually delivered some promising talent with the prospects from the area he is responsible for. When that contrasts with the incompetence of our scouting in other areas, he's made to look really good in comparison.

Overrated? Sure by some on this board. Competent? I would say so, unless we are proven otherwise with a string of busts.
