I swear to god if Rodin gets scratched again... I will personally hunt down Arniel and have a nice sophisticated chat with him about why he chooses to do so.

Seriously though after his last game I really hope he gets a stretch of at least 3 or 4 games in the top six to show what he's got.

Yep, it would make sense given his production with those two. Was he on that line again today?

It's sweet to see him finally get his first goal. Should've had one earlier on this season if it weren't for Desbiens' stupidity.

Yeah I was surprised. Happily surprised. Tanev is coming along real nicely, and it's nice to see Rodin heating up, hopefully he can maintain some consistency from this, and not a tail off and go into a slump later on.

Can't wait for tomorrow's game! :towel:

really wonder with rodin where he would be if he didnt have that brutal shoulder-growth problem that prevented him from working out for almost 2.5years. Nice to see him play like we all saw at the world juniors where he was a force.

With the team needing offensive help due to the Kesler and Booth injuries, does Rodin have any chance of making an impact? Be nice if the former 2nd rounder could show something.

Well former 2nd rounder's Mason Raymond and Bill Sweatt and former 1st Rounder's Zack Kassian and Jordan Schroeder are ahead of him on the depth chart.

Raymond is 27 years old. No longer a prospect and has scored more than 15 goals in a season once in his career. You are really stretching if you consider him a bonafide top 6 forward.

Be nice if one or two of these other guys were actually showing that they could push for a job. Nothing indicates they are ready to do that.

You never said anything about prospects.
All you said was "Does Rodin have a chance of making an impact. Be nice if the former second rounder could show something"

The answer is NO, because other Canucks who were drafted either in the same round or higher are better than him, absolutely no surprise in that. Higher picks are expected to be better and they are proving it.

No, only because he's not good enough, he's not even good enough to play on our 3rd line. Now we know why he's struggling this year, and I now I totally understand why he's been scratched so often this season.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

I don't watch him regularly but it seems to me that his junior success came from outside speed. I don't see a lot of that in his AHL games. The pro game simply shuts him down to easily. Not looking good even if he is still young.

I am thinking that his injuries slow down his development........he was projected to bottom 6 forward anyway?

One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

Nope, lots of people said he was top 6 or bust, I think he could play 3rd line though, but he's not big enough or good enough defensively to be a 4th liner.

It's starting to seem that way. His shoulder injuries were pretty significant IIRC... add that to a lack of strength from being unable to work out and I think he's been hesitant to take contact, hence the lack of production.

Anyone think the Canucks will re-sign him though? He's still only 21.

Anyone know anything about how he has been doing since the NHL became unlocked?

He seems to be the forgotten man on the Wolves.

He hasn't played a lot of games since the lock-out ended due to being at the Canucks camp, and then all-star break.

He did get an assist tonight.

He didn't play a lot because he's been scratched many times this year.

The little I have seen he seems to be a perimeter player. Makes me wonder if he should go back to Europe and hope to sifn with a SEL team. Whatever confidence he had is probably gone.

You're probably right. I would hate to see the team give up on such a young player. He was developing well before the shoulder injury, which has set him back big time. He needs some time to adapt his game and regain his confidence. I still think it is better for him to stay with the Wolves and learn the NA style of hockey.

Rodin could be such a good player. Dono if the AHL is best for his development though. He's one of those players that does well when he has the puck and some time with it. I hope he can play with jensen next year if jensen plays in the A. They would work well together. He's a top 6 forward, but only if he's playing with the right guys, can't do it himself or with the likes of our top 6 in the A. Has he played with Schoerder in the A seems like he would do well with a playmaker...

I really hope this guy pans out to be a great player in the next 2-3 years. Once he get's healthy and gets that hunger to play in the NHL again. Needs that chip on his shoulder if he wants to succeed just like hansen plays fast hits hard, stays in the rules though.

In hindsight, it may have been better for him to stay over in Sweden until he was more physically developed. He's much too small right now to handle the punishing play of the AHL.

He may have benefited more from developing his strength and skill in a league that focuses more on skill.

Oh well, hopefully he can still develop into an NHLer one day. He has the skillset, he just needs to add some strength and confidence to his game.
