Kevin Connauton Talk

Recommended Posts

Oberg

Sauve

zimmerman

ellington

will all make or be competing for jobs with Moose, and all outside ellington are expected to be on the team. and ellington MUST be a full time AHL player by next year if he wants to fill his potential.

You add in guys like Baumer, salcido, nycholat, funk, rome, mciver, mccue, who either will be or could be playing for them and its going to be very hard for KCon to make it.

Baumer Oberg

Salcido/Funk/Rome McIver

Zimmerman Sauve/Ellington

The chances of him making the team over ANY of those guys is very very slim with where his game is at right now, its going to be very hard for KCon to crack the moose full time next season.

I'm clueless, why dont you got take a look at the Moose's roster. Mccue and Salcido both play for the moose. Oh and Dan Sexton has played for the Moose as well. Im the clueless one huh?

They wont necessarily be there next year, but there will be others. Connauton has more to compete with than just Dmen who are Nucks property for a roster spot with the Moose. They sign their own players as well as other teams can assign players to the moose. Kind of like how Luko played with Texas this year and how Cowan played for Peoria last year.

Kevin with 1 assist and is a team leading +5 tonight.. He's been on for every one of the giant's even strength goals tonight (and started a number of prime opportunities, and been in on a number of plays that lead to those goals). One more point and he has the giants record for points by a d-man.

I didn't get a chance to watch the game tonight (didn't bother buying the web stream tonight) but he sounded good in the giants 6-0 win over Chilliwack.

+5... that's sick! biggrin.gif In a good way of course.

How many games are left in the Giants' regular season? It'd be great to see him break the record for points by a D-man. He's already got the record for most goals by a D-man too apparently.

As has been pointed out 3 games left but only 2 home games. Come on out, should be a good time.

Friday 12th vs. Kelowna (7:30pm)

Saturday 13th vs. Kamloops (7:00pm)

Sunday 14th @ Seattle

The game on the 12th is the final CIBC Read to Succeed Night which is ALWAYS packed as local elementary school classes that have participated in the literacy program come to the game and pack the upper bowl. As well first 5000 fans get one of the 2009/10 team posters.

The game on the 13th is Fan Appreciation Night. All you need to go is have a ticket to the game and show up and you are entered to win a 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour and a chance at some of the other prizes. In total approx $40,000 worth of prizes.

PLAYOFFS

Giants open the 2010 playoffs at home. Game 1 on the 19th @ 7:30pm and game 2 on het 20th @ 7pm. Still don't know who the other team is yet. Things in the 6, 7, 8 position in the Conf. are a little fluid still. But if the playoffs started today it would be Kamloops. Kelowna is 2pts up on the Blazers with 1 game in hand.

Wow cool article, nice to see others taking notice of Connauton's good season. Interesting they made it sound like he was gonna make the AHL, they did mention the Giants too but still whoever they are think he's got a decent shot at Manitoba by the sounds of it.

I dont see him ready to make the jump to full time ahler but if could id be thrilled. Sauve is still our most blue chip defesive prospect, but Connauton might have the highest ceiling. Hopefully the holes in his game round out and he can make the jump to the pro game.

I don't see the point of him playing another season in the WHL. He's preety much done the max in terms of offense. He should go to the Moose. Also its good if Sauve, Connauton, Shreoder, or maybe even Hodgson develop togather with the Moose. Imagine the powerplay with Sauve and Connauton at the points, with Shreoder, Hodgson and Rai upfront. When and if they make the Canucks, they will have the advatage of being familier with each other and the advantage of chemestry.

that's a great point. having them all develop together could build chemistry which could really help them all make the jump at the same time.

I've seen him live 4 times this year, and watched games a bunch. His game is defenitly improving but being OK defensively in the WHL translates to terrible even in the AHL. Hes not dominating his own zone the way you expect a 20yr old to do in the WHL. Everyone over looks that hes 20 and just sees hes a rookie in the WHL. Hes coming from a league where he played against bigger stronger faster players and he is exposed at least once a night defensively, and at his age and level that isnt good enough. Hes made strides but there are still more strides to go before him game rounds out into a solid pro game.

I'm the only one to breakdown and look at his game, and im the person who's knowledge of the player is being questiond? Not the guy who says "Your a hater, hes good" and nothing.

Like ive said before his gap control, and rotation are a problem as are his defensive reads. These are things that can be improved, he doesnt lack physical ability which is a good thing. But he MUST improve in these areas before his game will be good enough to be a good pro player.
