Anyone here who's following Connauton's progress who can say if he looks NHL ready yet? I heard he had to work on the defensive side of his game, and that's what was holding him back. How is he doing in that respect?

he's much improved defensively. he'll get his shot to make the team, and I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but did any notice that Kevin Connauton's career path is looking similar to Duncan Keith's?

Both started out in second tier junior, then went to university in Michigan, then went back and dominated the WHL, then went on to spend 2 seasons in the AHL, posting similar numbers. (Keith's numbers were slightly worse).

Keith spent more time in university, wheras Connauton spent a bit more time in the WHL.

Not to mention both are regarded for their skating/offensive ability, and both are roughly the same size/weight.

Great, does that mean Connauton is going to be throwing elbows? <_<

:o....

Do you know what this means?

He will be the one to exact revenge on the Hawks and destroy Jonathan Toews :bigblush:

In all seriousness though, I just serious'd and this makes me more stoked about him and think that this is a very interesting coincidence.

I hope the nucks give him a serious look, we need offense, but also more size and grit...

He is Kesler's size now, not that that's going to add a lot of size and grit to our line up (even though he is pretty gritty).

Is KNot not still light of 200lbs; a solid middleweight (hopefully) ala Bieksa? Bieksa is, of course, aside from Tanev our smallest D...

From what I have read he is learning and now OK at the defensive side of the game, has a booming shot, good speed and puck skills and a competitive streak which see's him take no s___?

I mean't like even though he won't bring a lot of size and grit his offense should help us quite a bit, just worded it weird lol.

I'm dying for this guy to make the team, I hope he does this year, they can really use another offensive defenseman. If he makes it, and if Garrison picks up where he left off from last season we could be in for some good offensive production from the d corps.

No way he sticks. KC will get a call up or two but he is at least a year and maybe two away from sticking full time.

I can only hope K-Conn develops his skating to be like Keith's. Keith is probably one of the best skaters in the NHL.

Very excited by the prospect of him joining the big club in the near future; with the current lockout hopefully he and Tanev can improve their chemistry even more and form a strong pairing for the team for years to come!

Chris should be able to stabilize Kevin and set Kevin up for bombs, and Kevin should also be able to use his speed and especially physicality to defend against the bigger guys that Chris may find difficult to shut down. (It's sounding like an improved version of Ballard and Tanev!)

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Jesus LOVES YOU!
2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

K Not makes me wonder why we ever bothered with Gragnani?

Also, as much as Tanev has shown to be more polished and matured in his development; I firmly believe Connauton will also be a better NHL performer over his career than Tanev. Too many extra skills. Anyone else see him as a better prospect?

After watching some of this season's highlights, I feel the same way. Although Tanev might be a more under the radar type of performer while K-Conn might be a PP guy with flash and grit mixed in. K-Conn will struggle in his own end at the NHL level from time to time and that might frustrate fans more then Tanev in his own end. I guess it all depends on what you like in a defencemen.

I'd love to see a duo of Connauton - Tanev on the Canucks 3rd pairing.

Hamhuis-Bieksa (defensive-offensive in a sense, but they are both 2-way)
Edler-Garrison (offensive-defensive)
Tanev-Connauton (defensive-offensive)

I'm starting to wonder if he can ever get it together. He seem's lost in the defensive end. Tonight he he didn't tie up his man's stick infront of the net which led to a goal. He finished the night -1 again.

I know right. I don't know if it's his pairing or what but when his d unit is on the are pinned until tanev jumps in then the wolves pressure.
