Canvoucer Vanuck
Cannata had a great year at Merrimack, looking forward to him joining the organization next year!

Samk
Why didn't we give him a shot this year at the prospects camp to try and make Kalamazoo?

Samk
NCAA Is that better than playing in the ECHL? or is he doing it to get an education?
avelanch
Is that better than playing in the ECHL? or is he doing it to get an education? education, and better league. And it's up to him, not the canucks. if he goes pro he's disqualified from ncaa play from there on out. he could leave school early, like schroeder, but he doesn't have a reason to. Ilya Mikheyev
Is that better than playing in the ECHL? or is he doing it to get an education? ECHL is a pretty bad league and he'd burn a year off his ELC, so it benefits everyone for him to stay in college this year.
Canvoucer Vanuck
Why didn't we give him a shot this year at the prospects camp to try and make Kalamazoo? I think the Canucks want to let him play out his 4 years in college and get an education first. We don't really have the room for him right now in the system. Verloren
Cannata is actually doing well at Merrimack. It's not like the school is somehow messing up his development (happened to White, Schroeder, and potentially Matson at U of Minny). If it was, the front office would have gotten him out right away. He's also guaranteed playing time, which he wouldn't be with Kalamazoo.
FrancoL
Joe Cannata earned the Hockey East Goaltender of the Month honour for his play with Merrimack in October: http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/pres1112/201111/nov1mh.php "Joe Cannata – Merrimack Senior Goaltender; Wakefield, Mass. Cannata recorded an unblemished 5-0 October record for the Warriors, 4-0 in Hockey East, with a 1.40 GAA and a .938 save percentage for the Warriors, allowing only two even strength goals all month long. He allowed two goals or less in all five starts and recorded 20+ saves in three of the five games. Runner-up: Parker Milner, BC (Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) 7-1-0, 2.24 GAA, .920 save%" Great numbers. Great start. Congratulations, Joe. Pardon me if this has been posted already in another thread.

stexx
Great to hear! Maybe Cannata can make up for the Hoznik drafting last year. yeah because an 18 year old goalie who made it to the chl on pure athletic ability alone and no coaching is such a terrible draft pick 6 months in. Get back to us in about 5-6years on honzik and we will see if hes a bust then. cannata has come a long way just like all goalies after they get drafted as they really only start getting proper goalie coaching more than once a week at the junior level unless they are from finland. sharnhayre
With those #s, he should be considered for USAs goalie for the World Juniors.
Guest Dasein
With those #s, he should be considered for USAs goalie for the World Juniors. Cannata's older than Hodgson. He can't participate. So weird how Cannata has an earlier 1990 birthday than Hodgson yet he was draft eligible in 2009 not 2008...
avelanch
he was eligible in 2008, he just wasn't drafted.
