Why no number 5? Why is Patrick White even on the list?

Woah. I got owned right there.

Why should White not be on the list?

Agreed, I want to see White succeed even more than before just so he could stick up to his critics.

1. Cody Hodgson
2. Micheal Grabner
3. Jordan Schroeder
4. Patrick White
5. Sergei Shirokov
6. Yann Sauve
7. Taylor Ellington
8. Evan Oberg
9. Kevin Connauton
10. Peter Andersson

Schneider has already proven to me all he needed to, all he needs is a chance, so he is excluded from the list.

I still haven't given up on our 07 early round selections, and as you can see I am also a big fan of drafting and developing our own defenseman.

4. Steven Anthony
5. Matt Pope

7. Anton Rodin
8. Kevin Connauton
9. Prab Rai
10. Yann Sauve

I left Grabner off this list as I think our days of watching him grow underneath the Canucks roster are over. I almost didn't put Hodgson either, but I'm not as confident in him making the club as easy as Grabs will.

Grabner speed is dynamite in the AHL last year he was proabably in the top 5 of players who raised eyebrows.

I'm not sure how you can say that.
Hodgson is all but a lock for the team next year. There's no point in another year in the OHL and he can't play in the AHL means that he's on the big club.

However, Grabby is a toss up. If we re-sign the twins, he's most likely back on the Moose. Otherwise, there's a spot or two open depending on what kind of camp he has.

Some of these lists are just excellent for their similarities and in their differences. I think it is a good point to leave off some of the more popular players, and I respect your reasoning. However, for myself because I have invested so much interest in them in the past these players make the top of my current list. The player who I did not even know existed before the draft, and who the more I read about the more I am intrigued by, is Steven Anthony. The manner in which we acquired him also makes him interesting.

As far as Patrick White goes, he would be my HM. I do not want in any way to see this fellow fail. I do know that he made me painfully aware that I have no clue when it comes to college players. I do not get to see them play and I do not know how to evaluate them compared to WHL players.

1. Cody Hodgson- the best prospect we have had in years,,likely to watch his progress at the NHL level
2. Michael Grabner- hopefully another prospect at the NHL level,,has speed and hopefully his hands catch up with his feet
3. Jordan Schroeder- clearly his attitude dropped his stock, was projected as a top 5 pick after the world juniors
4. Cory Schneider- was my last years #1,,,if lou resigns he will be traded so less interested in his progress
5. Yann Sauve- sounds like he had a poor season, maybe with a new coach his role and confidence will rise
6. Kiril Koltsov- hoping he comes the north america, could be our puck moving d-man we sorely need
7. Sergei Shirokov- clearly has offensive skills if he is willing to come to north america
8. Patrick White- in my opinion he will not ever play in the NHL, will see if the White worshippers are correct.
9. Anton Rodin- hoping Gradin spotted a diamond in the rough who can realise his offensive potential
10 Taylor Ellington- could be a physical force in a few years and take over Mitchells role as shutdown d-man

I notice that alot of us seem to have forgotten Dan Gendur. He put up decent numbers in his ECHL rookie season (9G, 29A, 97PIM in 52GP.) With some seasoning in Manitoba he could progress nicely, and who knows where he could be in 2-3 years.
Stephane Auger is a prick.

Connauton should be ahead of Andersson.

Ahhh yes... he slipped my mind. Its great to have more than a couple players within the organization that have the potential to make the NHL one day. By the Farhan ,read your article covering Vancouver's draft picks earlier today... solid work.

1. Cody Hodgson
2. Jordan Schroeder
3. Corey Schneider
4. Michael Grabner
5. Anton Rodin
6. Sergei Shirokov
7. Steven Anthony
8. Yann Sauve
9. Kevin Connaution

For the first time I can remember there is now a list of prospects worth following. Instead of just one or two guys in the system, the Canucks now have many young players with NHL potential. I have to admit that taking one player in each and every round of this years draft was curiously exciting for me as a fan. Since then I have been thinking of the Canucks' future players more than ever. I really wish I knew more about all of them. So I would like to know what are the top 10 prospects you are most interested in following as they develop into (hopefully) a Vancouver Canuck pro.

1. Cody Hodgson
2. Michael Grabner
3. Jordan Schroeder
4. Cory Schneider
5. Yann Sauve
6. Steven Anthony
7. Anton Rodin
8. Sergei Shirokov
9. Evan Oberg
10. Daniel Rahimi

To me, this is a very good list of young players that will have a positive impact on the next few seasons (perhaps as far off as four seasons for some to arrive) for the Canuck organization. Compare this to the days when the Hamilton Canucks had Mike Fountain or Mike Peca... well times sure have changed.

I look forward to reading your lists. :)

My list:
1) Cody Hodgson - potential first line center, has the intangibles to be a captain eventually, a little more size and he could have a long, prosperous career
2) Jordan Schroeder - ditto from Hodgson except the captain thing. Might be better offensively, maybe along the lines of Cliff Ronning
3) Cory Schneider - potential number one goalie. I doubt he will be with Vancouver much longer, if Luongo has truly signed long-term. If so, he can bring in some good value in return
4) Sergie Shirokov - if he ever comes over, the potential for first line, high scoring and two-way abilities. Put him on a line with Hodgson, along with a winger of some size and grit (ala Trottier,Bossy and Gillies, back in the day).
5) Yann Sauve - another year or two. We all talk about either offensive or stay-at-home defenders. I feel Sauve has the potential for a string of 6-9 goal, 30-40 assist years, playing both ways, and a punishing checker.
6) Anton Rodin - Naslund-like. Two or three years away.
7) Taylor Ellington - more stay-at-home than Sauve, say 5 and 20 per year. Apparently likes the physical game (GOOD!!).
8) Alexandre Bolduc - Third line center with size. Another year, and I can see him taking over for Ryan Johnson.
9) Mats Froshaug - second line center, consistent 15-20 goal, 30-35 assists.
10) Prab Rai - speed, speed and more speed. Third line checker, some offense and a local boy. Team him with Bolduc and ______ , and I can see several years worth of very good checking line.
HM - Desbiens (if we can sign him). Two way player, likes to mix it up, has some good size. Also Mario Bliznak, fourth line center.

Potential team for 2012-13 season:
Shirokov - Hodgson - ________ (Bernier, maybe?)
Burrows - Froshaug - Kesler
Rai - Bolduc - Raymond
Desbiens - Bliznak - ______ (pick up some winger with size and grit)
Spares: Rodin, Anthony

Edler - Ellington
Sauve - Bieksa
_____ - ______ (maybe one of the three d-men drafted this year, or free agent pickups)

Luongo
Ellis, Labarbera

2 Hodgson
3 Schroeder
4 Grabner
5 Schneider
6 Rodin
7 Sauve

9 Prab Rai
10 Mario Bliznak

That's my list of interest.

1. Schroeder - Offensive dynamo. Boom or bust
2. Hodgson - A safer bet than Schroeder, but his ceiling is hard to measure. Will he be a Mike Modano or a Rob Niedermayer?
3. Grabner - Another boom for bust forward. Potential to score 30 goals if he ever makes the nhl. He has added a lot of strength.
4. Schneider - Would be at the top of my list if we had Auld and Cloutier still. He has potential to be a top 5 goaltender.
5. Shirokov - I had given up on him but the rumour of him signing has given me some hope. Another undersize forward. Average speed but seems to have skill to make up for it.
6. Sauve - Potential to be a Nick Boynton type defenseman. Nothing exciting, but one of our better prospects.
7.Rodin - Speed to burn and offensive potential. Again, another undersized forward.
8. Pope - Bias pick. I went to high school with him. It would be interesting to see how far his professional hockey career takes him.
9. Ellington - Sold defensive guy, improve his offensive numbers last year.
10. Oberg - Very light but put up good offensive numbers in college last year. Could be a suprise late-bloomer.
Double the trouble.

And your sig isn't just a little optimistic also? I could be convinced to put Schroeder in his place, then move the other two centers down a line each, but that's about it.

Based on the signing today, and after reading Farhan Devji's article, I have replaced Rahimi with Pope as a player of interest. I was unable to watch any of the Moose playoff games and regret not seeing him play with Krog and Jaffrey. Good luck in Manitoba Mr. Pope from Langley.
