Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men
who find it easier to live in the world they've been given
than to explore the power they have to change it.
Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion.
Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare.
Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is nothing.

Eklund also said that JBo was done and they were discussing terms. If Eklund nails both of them that would a record for him. he should just retire.

He should have reitred long ago.

A little overpaid. No hometown discount.

Very Glad they will still be here.

Now Gillis you have 10 million to spend. Can we all say Cammelleri/Hossa/Gaborik/Gionta (in order) and Ohlund/Scott Neidermeyer/Komisarek/ (in order) and Beauchemin.

Have a great day!!! Good luck to all Canucks. So happy Heatley denied COilers!!!

How is 6.1 million an overpayment for PPG players? Kesler almost got 60 points. I guess he probably isn't worth more than 2.5 million.

Fair deals I think.

Guess the Canucks aren't changing that much this year.

Nope. The Canucks will continue to tread water. Gillis does not realize that you can't build for the future while trying to compete for the cup. I know somebody is going to bring it up so I will just say right now that Detroit is the exception to the rule and The Canucks do not have the same horseshoes up their rear ends.

I'm with you, never really been a big Sedin guy and until they win something I don't think they are worth 6mill. I'm not saying we could get anything better for less money just didn't want to see our cap tied up in 2 players who can't play without each other. This could be fine if Gillis would get off his donkey and get a puck moving defensemen that can log some good minutes and a 2nd line center/winger.

So players aren't allowed to earn 6 million til they win something? You should be Samuellson's agent.

This is the worst signing in Canuck history! Potentially 1/4 of the payroll (after next year) going to 2 guys that have never scored a gwg in the playoffs! NEVER!
Both are still minus players in the playoffs and thier production drops in half in the playoffs. This year they played a St louis team that shouldn't have even been in the playoffs and they could barely muster a point a game.

I'm not saying thier not worth the money, just saying we should of let em go at that price!
Its like when you've been with a girl for a long time and you know your never gonna marry her but you just don't have the courage to pull the trigger. Should of let em go. We finally had a chance to get rid of this enigma and MG buckled under.

They should have taken the 5 million dollar deal. yes underpaid but still a lot of money to live in this great city (by thier own admission). How low can they go tryin to sqeeze another mil each. Should go over great in the dressing room next year. Thats roughly 2 million a year we could have used to bring in more toughness!
Plus, they are so so boring to watch. So so boring

People talk about how the goaltending and defence were terrible against Chicago but did anybody notice any forwards backchecking (maybe kes and bur)? How many times did we see Chicago gain the blue line and go lateral from east to west virtually untouched. Bad bad passess and low percentage plays (by the Sedins) in the offensive zone killed us.

Get used to yelling at your TV - "WHY DIDN'T HE SHOOT THE PUCK?!?!"

IMO - Luongo looked so happy at the draft was he had a deal in place and that didn't include the Sedins playing in Van. Mark my words he is gone!

I thought Mike G. would take us to the promise land but he's proven that he is just a good corporate boy and will make the safe corporate decision every time and keep that regular season cash coming in.

Vancouver fans have a serious case of regular-season-itis!

Get lost, troll.

I wonder if people who say the Sedins are "boring" to watch really enjoy watching hockey.

Well I'm just wondering where the home town discount was? The rumors were for 6-7 and I hardly doubt anyone would have done7 having to fit both at 14 mill under their cap, so that leaves us a 6mill and thats what we paid them. We can't even split them up and spread out our scoring they have to be played together. So forgive me if I'm a little less than stoked on the signing at 6.1mill, good players but so much for discount. <_<

Absolutely.

You need to either be aggressively acquiring assets if you legitimately want to compete for a Cup, or you need to be aggressively acquiring youth/draft picks if you're looking for a rebuild. As usual, we're kinda somewhere in the middle, which is why we're going to continue to get "kinda somewhere in the middle" results. We'll maybe make the playoffs, maybe not. One thing's for sure - our post-season stint will not go beyond two rounds with roughly 35% of our payroll allocated to the Sedin's & Luongo. That's not a good model of success for hockey, especially paying that much to a goaltender.

Even with Detroit, they haven't been "rebuilding for the future" at all, they've kept almost everyone and signed the likes of Rafalski, Hossa, and Cleary through free agency. You haven't seen them dumping veterans. They've inserted a couple of their young players in every so often, and a few of them have developed into outstanding NHLers. I wouldn't call that a simultaneous Cup run + rebuild.

i think canuck fans just wanted change for change sake

if people would of found out that we signed two 80 point players, the city would be excited, it just happens their names are henrik and daniel

Change is good. Change works. I wonder if MG, in hindsight, would've liked to have added a veteran piece or two at a significant discount at the trade deadline. I wonder if all the moron lemmings who were saying "the best move was no move" still feel that that was the right thing to do.

And on your second sentence - fair enough, but we haven't improved. That's the point. We didn't really do much last year, and we haven't improved. All we've done is given Daniel & Henrik Sedin a 71% raise, each. Is giving them more money going to make us a better hockey team? Nope. We've added Mikael Samuelsson and lost Mats Sundin, Mattias Ohlund, & Taylor Pyatt. I'm thinking that this is going to be a pretty long year.

LOL, Canucks need to sign a new Pavel Bure

The amount he was making / the points and what he did for the team, Bringing them to the stanley cup finals, is what the canucks need.
