So, by your logic, the following list of players are all "not worth it" and you would have let each walk from your team if you were the GM coz they hadn't won a Cup prior to signing them (it isn't a team game after all, all about the individual hockey is....right? )

Nope, but you can't tell me everyone of those players deserves their money and alot of those salaries were due to the inflated cap. I understand you have to give players a chance to win a cup but their salaries don't allow much wiggle room and I don't consider them home town discounts or anything.
Thanks To JJC For Teh Bobby Ryan Sig

Well I'm just wondering where the home town discount was? The rumors were for 6-7 and I hardly doubt anyone would have done7 having to fit both at 14 mill under their cap, so that leaves us a 6mill and thats what we paid them. We can't even split them up and spread out our scoring they have to be played together. So forgive me if I'm a little less than stoked on the signing at 6.1mill, good players but so much for discount. <_<

I wonder if you could be anymore condescending and narrow minded about other people's opinions. ;)

Why should they play for a discount? Look at their last contract. They were underpaid.

Yeah, if this is true then Ovechkin is getting severely overpaid.

And I suppose Brad Richards is underpaid.

Inflated salary for inflated stats, achieved with inflated ice time. I had better be wrong, otherwise Our team is SCREWED if the cap goes down, or Kesler, Mitchell, Raymond, Schneider, Grabner and Luongo, among others, decide they want to cash in too. This and renewing Vignault are the only two critisms I have of Gillis.
Auger's mistake wasn't singling out Burrows, or even approaching him before the game.
His mistake was calling the hit Burrows dived on based on the injury he though he sustained.
Bettman and the NHL want to stop headshots period, not just the injuries sustained.
Punish based on the offense, the action taken, not the injuries sustained.

Yes, ask Chicago how happy they are now about Hossa......IF he even plays again in 2009.

Golf clubs...you are right.....no other NHL team could sign two point-per-game players this off season so that means Canucks must be much worse off.....great logic.

Clutch @ Oct 3 2008, 12:34 PM - Alex Burrows, I fail to see the reason why nobody questions his ability to play in the nhl. He can't skate; its ridiculous. IMOP Alex Burrow's an embarrassment to the team. Please Gillis let this guy go and keep Krog or Pettinger or Brown whoever.

Good job on the double post moron....and ya, no other team could sign 2 point per game players this off season (on top of what they already had) we already had the sedins and didnt add anything else. And we all know how far the sedins have gotten us in the past. As for Hossa, I posted this before it was announced that he was injured so maybe you should try reading things before commenting on them. Jackass

Good signing at a good price, Sundin for a good discount now would be fabulous.

It would be but it's not likely to happen.

(It's good to know we have a reliable offensive forward who puts up a point per game and isint a defensive liabilty) x2

For only 6.1m in their prime with the possiblity of MORE points. 90+ isin't a wet dream, it could be reality. :D

Oh yeah and they can turn this guy into a point per game player too.
