Sources tell TSN Jay Bouwmeester has agreed to terms with the Calgary Flames.

Bouwmeester avoids unrestricted free agency, agreeing to a 5 year deal worth $6.6 million per year against the salary cap.

The Flames will formally announce the deal at a news conference tomorrow.

Calgary traded for rights to negotiate with him prior to july 1st. He is not UFA status yet i believe

Well, there goes the people who saw JBo signing with the Canucks..... :rolleyes:
Let's see how Calgary handles the cap now, especially by overpaying him. I sort of expected this when Calgary traded for his rights, even though there was the possibility of him signing elsewhere.

Yes ,but you can re sign players in the last year of their contract without anyone else making offers, and they acquired his rights. The last year on his previous contract was last year ,meaning whoever had his negotiation rights had till tomorrow to have exclusive contract talks with him. Tomorrow, anyone could have gone after him
