UGH...As I type this, it's 4pm in my time zone, 2pm in Vancouver. Last I checked, July 1st doesn't end for a good number of hours.

And just because the Canucks may wait until july 2nd, or 3rd...or *gasp* beyond, it doesn't mean that the Canucks upcoming season is a write-off.

scouting report:

Rome is a self-described stay at home defenseman who can add a little offense. He is a strong skater with great positioning and solid puck-handling and passing skills. With his exceptional vision and awareness he can anticipate the play. His offensive game and shot from the point has improved as he has seen increased powerplay time. He can be physical when necessary and plays with a bit of an edge.

Sounds like he has more upside than last years UFA Rob Davison and our established farmhands like McIver,Fitzgerald,Rahimi,etc.Hopefully some icetime will establish his game at an NHL level.

I would think chances are if Luongo ups his deal then MG will go the trade route with Schneider or someone else.

Then again, there's always Heatley....(including the cap hit and the baggage too)
