The only reason why teams have signed so many more players is because Vancouver is already in a pretty solid position. Calgary is screwing themselves again. They might have five super stars but no secondary scoring.
People complain and complain that Gillis isn't signing anyone but there simply isn't cap space. The main reason is that we already got two top twenty point scorers in the NHL. Last time I checked, no teams had six superstar forwards on their team.
The Canucks are going to be fine...

This is actually a pretty good signing.
Sjostrom brings a lot of bang for the buck that he's signed for. Great bottom six guy, good wheels, awesome PKer and real physical as well. For $750,000 a year, it's a good move by Sutter.
