letting Gaborik walk and signing an even more injury proned player with less skill. Havlat wont have the talented Blackhawks team to play with. But good signing in terms of the money

Damn.

That's a decent contract.

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.

He hasn't so far, so why would he now?

On the Hawks, he's a supplementary player.

On the Wild, he'll be depended on to lead their team. Something he's not capable of doing.

Meawhile, do the Hawks look like they have a kickass team now, or what? Only question is goaltending.

Great...Koivu and Havlat going to Minny. And Heatley might be going to Edmonton....wow the only team in our divison I'm not that worried about is Colorado :(

Colorado actually made the best move potentially. If Anderson keeps the same numbers he did last year they improved their team by quite a bit. Of course he could just choke but at least they are trying to efficient. I can't say the same for the other teams in our division. Besides, Havlat is like a downgrade from Gaborik so the Wild hasn't improved at all.

Actually, I think Minny got an upgrade as Havlat not quite as often injured as Gaborik.....

Naw, I think Gaborik is like an ironman compared to Havlat. I think it is the recency effect that makes you think Havlat is less injury prone because he played close to a full season last season. However, the years before that it was BAD. Gaborik played only 5 games last season but the season before he played like 80 and I think he plays like at least 50 games. Havlat averages like 20 or 30 if my memory serves me correctly. I'll go check and get back to you.

The only two things that we really need to do is get rid of Bieksa and get a puck moving defenseman. Everything else can be done at the deadline, like when the Pens got Hossa, Guerin, Cuntz, or the young guys might be able to do the supporting winger roles. If not Kotalik would probably be able to do better than even Anson Carter with the Sedins and for relatively cheap too.

"Minnesota signs Havlat"?

Havlat being hurt big time against Kronwall in the playoffs hurt his asking price. He's not 100% and might not even be that way for the next season. Still, that's better than Gabby being away for 85% of the season prior.

best part for us is the contact. we basicly replace Gaborik with Havlat lose nothing and gain 2.5 mil in cap space. hell he will probibly only play 40 games for us this year but Gaborik only played 17 last year so we are ued to it....

sad but true

anyhew est possible option for us

That Hossa contract won't look to smart when Toews, Kane, and Keith want 6 mill ear per come next July. Plus you got Brian Cambell's contract....

Martin played 81 games last year Gaborik played 17...

we got Havlat for 2.5 mil less. I'm happy with it. Besides who the heck else could we have plugged in to fill the gap Gaborik left us. We are not exactly deep in goal scorers. In fact half our team couldn't score if we used soccer nets.... So it was a huge need for us, and in my opinion a big get for us.

For people who kept saying Havlat is injury-prone. He is not as bad as you guys think. Out o 8 seasons, he played 65 games or more five times. He also had 1 season where he played 56 games.
Signing him for $5M/season is a solid move by Wilds.

I agree with everything you said except the "s" on the end of the Wild :P

It is obvious that Minnesota had to do something big to replace Gaborik but 6 years seems rather risky to me for a guy who, injury prone as he already is, was essentially knocked out of the playoffs and unable to play due to a concussion the last time he was on the ice.

because the cut is on an artery and without that bandaid we would hemmorhage! think about name one goal scorer for the Wild... Quick!.... Drawing a blank?

so in this case a band-aid is a very welcome thing indeed
