How is this a dick move by Heatley?

Thats the whole point of having a no trade clause so you cant be traded to a place you dont want to go.

The idiots that made the trade public before it actually went through are the real one that need to be called douches.

Its obvious nobady wants to go to Edmonton, why should he?

The whole point of a NTC is to protect the player from being traded in general. It's a dick move because it's not the Senators not honoring the contract. It's Heatley. He was the one that requested the trade and he was the one that made it public. By making it public he handicapped Byran Murray. When GMs know that your player has asked to be traded, you lose leverage in negotiations. So Murray is good enough to make his request a reality and he refuses to be traded. Why does he refuse to be traded? Because he wants to wait until July 2nd so that the Senators are the ones that have to pay him the 4M. He's turned it personal which makes him an even bigger dick since anyone other than a professional athlete would have gone to jail for what happened in Atlanta. They gave him a second chance and he spit in their face.

As for no one wanting to go to Edmonton....I'm pretty sure the Oilers have signed more big name free agents since the lockout than the Canucks.

Because it is the player that negotiates to have a no trade contract, which he did, and now he decides he wants to be traded and won't accept the only trade Ottawa could find that gave back a decent return. It's different when the team is asking to trade a player, and asking him to waive his NTC, but when the player himself says he wants out but turns down the trades, it's a prick move.

He wants the huge money, he doesn't want to stay where he signed the deal, and he wants to decide where he goes. Ryan Smyth had a ntc, and he played the situation right, with class, and was moved. Heatley has played this like a spoiled child.

Smyth was in a contract year. Am sure he would've turned it down if he had multiple years left in his contract and was traded to the Islanders.

Because he demands a trade and then doesn't like the team so he decides not to go? Makes such a fuss about staying in ottawa and playing under Clouston, you think he would jump at any other team but apparently not. Looks like he'll be stuck as a Senator and he deserves all the hate that will come his way when the season starts.

Credit to R.Luongo. for sig.

Makes sense. He did the original douchbaggarey of going public about being traded.

In all the 30 plus years ive been following the NHL i have never heard of a guy DEMANDING a trade................then refuse to accept the trade............

First he demands a no movement clause. Then he DEMANDS to break his contract..............then he EXERSISES his no movement clause........

I feel bad for the senators fans.
