Grabner not this year, but the next, although he'll get injury call ups.
Patrick White 4 years down the road
Yann Sauve 4 years down the road, may get callups in 3 years.
Hodgson will hopefully be in 2 years because wasting a year of his eligibility for free agency in 7 years when he's not quite primed would suck.

Looking at our cap space problem I think Grabner should get a good look this season. Start the season give him 20 games to see what he can do. The rest I think you are right.
I was looking on the link below and they have Hodgson with a 3 year contract so why waste a year having him on the bench.

Grabner will get a long look this fall.
Patrick White - if what he has shown so far is all he has, the answer is that he'll never play for the Canucks.
Yann Sauve needs a lot of seasoning - most defencemen do - think 2-4 years.
Hodgson is possible for this fall. I'd love to see him push someone out of the #2 centre spot, or he might push out Woody at the number three. If he can't, he's not old enough for minor pro, so back to junior - which would be an awful waste. Canucks will do their best to keep him up, but he will have to show them something.

Grabner and Hodgson both get long looks this coming training camp, but whether they make it will depend on returning depth. I'd say Hodgson about 75-80% likely, Grabner about 50-60%, better if one or both of Raymond and Hansen are gone. Sauve in the 2011-12 season, unless he really lights it up quickly. White - I doubt he will ever make it. Of course, this all depends on Gillis/AV allowing Grabner to stay in system. I've said in another post that I doubt Grabner will ever play for the 'Nucks, I'm not backing off of that, although it is being to look like he will (nice showing in the AHL playoffs).

Patrick White will take another 2-3 years. (Most who is writing him off haven't seen him play. By next year of this time, we'll have these guys jumping back on the band wagon. It was the case for Grabner, Kesler, and several other prospects)
Yann Sauve will take another 3-4 years.

It's to prevent AHL teams from signing players from major junior. The OHL/QMJHL/WHL need to protect their players in order to have so many teams in the league.
