Burke and Nonis were fired by the Canucks.. this could have been a way to get payback.

yeah, as often is the case, fans are blind to the real value of players they see regularly. When you realize that since the lockout only 12 players have put up 70+ points each season, and the average salary for those players is over 7 million a season. The Sedins are 2 of those 12 players, so getting them at what ends up as a million below market value each year is a deal. They'd have easily gotten more money from the Leafs or other teams.

Then why did all the GMs at the draft and for the last month refuse to say anything about players they were interested and said (and I quote) "I won't talk about a specific player that is under contract to another team, that is tampering"
