So I was thinking about it today, and with all that has happened in the last 36hours or so and dependent on Lui signing you think we might be able to pull a deal like this off?
Schnieder to Atlanta for Bogosian.
So the way i see it, our defense needs much more work then our offense. Right not we have the Sedins burrows, Demitra, and Kesler as our top 6 with players like Bernier, and Raymond on the bubble. Next year I am hoping that at the very least one of Hodgson, Grabner, or perhaps Schroeder(unlikely) will make the team and if that's the case they should be at least getting 2nd line minutes.
Next lets move to the defense. With the passing of Bourdon, we have no top end talent back there, and after losing ohlund I think we are really going to be exposed next year. I was hoping we would be able to sign Jaybo, he would have been the prefect addition to the team but since we didn't, we have try other things.
Now to the proposed trade. From our side I look at this as a rearrangement of talent. Looking at the two players yes Cory is 4 or 5 years older the Bosogian, but in terms of development, they are both ready now to play in the NHL, and both could be potential impact players. Bosogian can play now on our defense and he would be awesome addition to the talent pool. From atlantas point of veiw, they are getting one of, if not the best goaltending prospects in the world, and not only is he good but he has already gone through a lot of development, so he is ready for them.
Downsides: Atlanta has Lehtonen and what seems to be a promising goaltending prospect in Pavelec. But I dont think Pavelec is as highly touted as Cory, and kari seems to have issues with injuries and other things, i.e. i remember hearing rumors of trouble with him a few years ago when the thrashers made the playoffs.
Sorry for the long post guys, i tried to make it well thought out for you. And I realise we might hav to give up more, then just Cory, but I don't think its far off.
What do you guys think? Is one for one fair? Would Atlanta do it? Would the Canucks need to add a player, (hanson, raymond etc.) or a pick(2nd or 3rd) to get this deal done?
Oh and if you don't think atlanta is a good trading partner, which young Bluechip defensive prospect do you think we could get for cory?
