all it would take is trading schneider (who we are all waiting to go), one of hansen or raymond (who we cant fit into the lineup anyway), and relatively high draft pick.
gagne kesler demitra is an excellent potential second line, and our cap hit would only go up about 3.2million assuming schneider would be backup next year, and one of hansen or raymond would be in the lineup.

He'd also require a fair bit of assets to acquire, and is prone to injuries and concussions. That might not bode well in the far more physical Western Conference.
Not worth it.

He's by no means expensive for his output, but with 12.2 million in the Sedins, 6.75 in Luongo and 7 tied up in Salo and Mitchell that can't be moved, are we giving up Burrows and Edler to get him?
And then theres the question of Philidelphia knowing what he's capable of, and unless Holmgren lost his grip since the end of the season, he will ask for Burrows and Edler for him. At least.
Gillis has said he won't force a player to waive his NTC, or even ask him to. Make a note of it.
The current CBA states that a player cannot have a 50% paycut or more within three years of the same contract.

Sedin (6.1) - Sedin (6.1) - Burrows (2)
Gagne (5.25) - Kesler (1.75) - Demitra (4)
Raymond/Grabner (.88) - Hodgson (1.75) - Bernier (2)
Hordichuk (.75) - Johnson (1.15) - Rypien (.55)
Edler (3.25) - Salo (3.5)
Mitchell (3.5) - Bieksa (3.75)
O'Brien (1.5) - Foster (1.6)
Luongo (6.75)
Sanford/Whoever (.5)
56.63, assuming Rome starts off in the A.

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.

couple years ago my wife worked at the airport and when they came home once got me a shirt with like 20 autographs on it and said they were all really nice. AV even talked to her for a bit. Course the shirt is ruined cause it has Jan Bulis' auto on it. If you wanna hang out at the airport, could have better luck

in the trade i proposed our cap hit only goes up about 3 million, which is absolutely doable, especially when your getting a young top liner for secondary scoring added to your team under contract for 2 years and affordable.
the cap issues arent a big enough deal to make this trade bad in any way for our team, the difference he would make for our offence would be massive

Are you even capable of long term thinking? It sure doesn't seem like it.
Next season, the cap comes down, probably significantly. You want us to cozy right up to the cap this year? What happens next year when we have to extend Luongo, Kesler, Mitchell, etc. etc. I'd rather be a competitive team for long term. Gagne would also involve giving up considerable assets, creating more holes than getting him would fill, and we'd have even less cap space to do it.
No cap space. Pull your head out of the clouds, start thinking realistically and deal with it. Show me a team that pays 5-6 guys over $5 million and is still in good shape with the salary cap.

How observant of you. I don't think anyone else was aware, thanks for keeping us updated.
Now, what does that have to do with Gagne?
Oh yes!! Now we have even less cap space to get him! Like I said, it's not gonna happen.
