theres no player of his calibre available on the free agent market, hes priced fairly, and his team need to clear cap space, theres gonna be no better situation to deal for a top teir forward who will make your team way more dangerous up front.

all it would take is trading schneider (who we are all waiting to go), one of hansen or raymond (who we cant fit into the lineup anyway), and relatively high draft pick.

gagne kesler demitra is an excellent potential second line, and our cap hit would only go up about 3.2million assuming schneider would be backup next year, and one of hansen or raymond would be in the lineup.

The guy is NOT a perfect fit with our salary cap situation.

He'd also require a fair bit of assets to acquire, and is prone to injuries and concussions. That might not bode well in the far more physical Western Conference.

Not worth it.

Gagne might retire as a Flyer.

Linemate for Kesler? what about Brad Isbister!

Let's just sign Kovalev and get it over with. T___T We need a sniper/dangler and he fits the bill, somewhat.. as long as his cap hit is like 4.5m. Bieksa gets shipped, of course.

If we're taking anyone from Philly it had better be JVR.

if given the chance to play the wing the entire season with the sedins you'll see burrows with 40 goals.

I like Gagne. Before the twins resigned, I'd have agreed that he is what this team needed for either a 1A or 1B line. But we have 10 million and 9 roster spots open. We need 2 defencemen and a few forwards still. With Rome filling in for Davison, no higher I hope, and Hodgson all but a lock, and with three unsigned UFAs with qualifying offers (which means they have Gillis' interest)...how do we fit him in and still cover our bases?

He's by no means expensive for his output, but with 12.2 million in the Sedins, 6.75 in Luongo and 7 tied up in Salo and Mitchell that can't be moved, are we giving up Burrows and Edler to get him?

And then theres the question of Philidelphia knowing what he's capable of, and unless Holmgren lost his grip since the end of the season, he will ask for Burrows and Edler for him. At least.
The resident Sedin Hater. And one of many Vignault Haters.
Gillis has said he won't force a player to waive his NTC, or even ask him to. Make a note of it.
The current CBA states that a player cannot have a 50% paycut or more within three years of the same contract.

Not sure where the 'No Cap Space' is coming from?

Sedin (6.1) - Sedin (6.1) - Burrows (2)
Gagne (5.25) - Kesler (1.75) - Demitra (4)
Raymond/Grabner (.88) - Hodgson (1.75) - Bernier (2)
Hordichuk (.75) - Johnson (1.15) - Rypien (.55)

Edler (3.25) - Salo (3.5)
Mitchell (3.5) - Bieksa (3.75)
O'Brien (1.5) - Foster (1.6)

Luongo (6.75)
Sanford/Whoever (.5)

56.63, assuming Rome starts off in the A.

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.

couple years ago my wife worked at the airport and when they came home once got me a shirt with like 20 autographs on it and said they were all really nice. AV even talked to her for a bit. Course the shirt is ruined cause it has Jan Bulis' auto on it. If you wanna hang out at the airport, could have better luck

I'm pretty sure his salary is $875K and with bonuses he can earn up to $1.7M

The bigger news for many Canucks fans, though, is that his wife Gina and four-and-a-half month old baby daughter Gabriella will be accompanying him this year.

in the trade i proposed our cap hit only goes up about 3 million, which is absolutely doable, especially when your getting a young top liner for secondary scoring added to your team under contract for 2 years and affordable.

the cap issues arent a big enough deal to make this trade bad in any way for our team, the difference he would make for our offence would be massive

Wow cool. This is wierd because I was thinking about this yesterday. Gagne-Kesler-Demitra would make an excellent combo. You got a sniper/dangler in Gagne, a speed forward who isn't afraid to go to the dirty areas, and a playmaker with excellent vision with a lethal slapshot. I don't think the price would be as high as some are saying considering Philly is in a deep hole with their salary cap.

Are you even capable of long term thinking? It sure doesn't seem like it.

Next season, the cap comes down, probably significantly. You want us to cozy right up to the cap this year? What happens next year when we have to extend Luongo, Kesler, Mitchell, etc. etc. I'd rather be a competitive team for long term. Gagne would also involve giving up considerable assets, creating more holes than getting him would fill, and we'd have even less cap space to do it.

No cap space. Pull your head out of the clouds, start thinking realistically and deal with it. Show me a team that pays 5-6 guys over $5 million and is still in good shape with the salary cap.

How observant of you. I don't think anyone else was aware, thanks for keeping us updated. <_<

Now, what does that have to do with Gagne?

Oh yes!! Now we have even less cap space to get him! Like I said, it's not gonna happen.
