That is a damn good question actually. I've noticed that the older veterans that probably have up to 5 years left of their career take their time to sign with a new team and all the other ones do July 1st. Both him and Saku Koivu haven't decided. Probably because they want a Cup. Which is probably why Saku Koivu hasn't decided to sign with the Wild yet.

Probably would really play well with the Sedins because he's a shooter. It wouldn't take so long for either one of them to register a point with him because he can snipe a shot off into the net very well.

It certainly would be awesome to have a flashy player like Kovalev. (Get your moneys worth from those pricey tickets)

Unfortunately, he will likely take valuable ice time from our younger players which would hinder their development. Since Gillis seems very keen on giving our younger guys a chance, he likely won't be coming to Vancouver.

I could see him going to Minnesota. The GM is really keen on getting exciting hockey back.

I doubt Gillis is trying to go after him, if we could sign him for somewhat cheap that would be great.

Kovalev has world class skill but is lazier than a junk yard dog. Another high maintenance selfish player who only shows up ever other night. NO THANKS.

Ruslan Fedotenko.

1-1.5 mil cap hit
has 2 cups
30 years old
can shoot, deke, pass

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows (this needs to be fixed in 2010 if posible)
Demitra - Kesler - Bernier/Fedotenko
Fedotenko/Bernier - Hodgson - Grabner
Hordichuk - Johnson - Rypien

with this line up CoHo, Grabs, and Bernie can develop and next year we just might be that step closer to the cup. plus we get more to spend on defense (Ohlund signed with tampa) MG signs Beuchemin, we got a crap good team. what do you think?

My Vancouver Canucks Roster 2009/1010

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Burrows
Demitra - Kesler - Samuelsson
Raymond - Hodgson/Wellwood - Bernier
Hordichuk - Johnson - Rypien
Grabner

Mitchel - Salo
Edler - UFA
Bieksa - O'brien
Rome

Luongo
Raycroft
RED = still not signed players.
Retire Markus Näslund's 19 already!!

The only problem is he could be great one game and invisible the next. Montreal had to send him home for a week as a timeout for his lazy play.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

i think kovalev would be a good fit with the sedins......what about Dimitri Kalinin from phoenix....has good size (6'3'') and good mobility and decent offensive numbers could be a good 4,5,6, d man

When he feels like it he's an incredible sniper. But could Vigneault motivate him? If it's a 1 year I guess I wouldn't mind.

As I said before, if ol' "Emo Kovy" signs here, AV will bench him so fast he'll think his butt's in a time warp.

He'll ride the pine more than a family of spotted owls if he signs in Van.

Maybe he just needs a change to get him going. I wouldnt mind if he signed here for one year, a change could spark him.
