We have less than 9 million in cap space remaining.

We haven't re-signed Bernier.

We haven't re-signed Wellwood.

We haven't re-signed Hansen.

We need to extend Luongo's contract.

We need to get a top 6 forward.

We need to get a top 2 pairing defensemen.

Lets forget how stupid this thread is and your proposal and lets focus on how in the bloody hell we would fit this into the salary cap in the 1st place.

See this is ridiculous. The stupidity amazes me. This isn't NHL09. Dammit this wouldn't even work in NHL09.

So ridiculous posters like yourself are allowed to make threads.

I thought Bernier got signed?

Bernier's already been re-signed, Luongo's contract doesn't mean anything to this year's cap

Wellwood and Hansen can be had for less than 2.5 million combined

We couldn't take him if they gave him to us for a couple of water bottles and a gym bag.

Reference:

(Heatley is signed for the next 5 years at an astounding 7.5mill per. If we do indeed re-sign Luongo it affect our cap the next year and the next and the next and the next, ect.)

Bernier got re-signed? My mistake on that part.

Screw Heatley.

The guy is an assclown. He is the only NHL player I know who SHOULD HAVE had jail time. He killed a man. With his stupid actions. He should feel lucky that he got a get out of jail free card. I always disliked him. And now he demands a trade and then rejects the trade that was made? This is supposed to be a guy who is a lock for team Canada. What kind of kick in the balls is that for the city of Edmonton that he rejects going there? Screw him. I hope he one days enjoys the karma that is coming his way.

He had the opportunity to make up for his trade demand and initial rejection by saying that he was surprised and had to talk it over with his wife, etc, but that he is happy to come to the city of Edmonton and a team with such a history. Instead, he pulls this crap. I just can't respect him. We can forgive Eric Lindros because he did this as a young man, but what is the excuse this time?

We'll be cap strapped if we do sign Heatley... unless Mike Gillis is planning on trading Luongo.

Sedins cost 6.1 million each...
Luongo will cost at least 7 million...
Then you add another 7 million on top of that that's 26.2 million wrapped up on 4 players. Not going to happen!

Salo should be making $1.5M, not $3.75M, especially when he is hurt. I like that Mitchell for Johnson proposal. Injecting youth into our defensive corps would be good for us. Johnson and Mitchell are similar players, Erik has more offensive upside though.

J Bo's a bum, Bieksa would mop the ice with him in most aspects of the game.

They could get him and fit him IF they restructure Luongo's contract so he gets 5 mil per.

To Vancouver:
Heatley
Campoli or Kuba or someone with low cap hit (Brian Lee?)

To Senators:
Bieksa
Demitra
Schneider OR Raymond
Hansen
4th pick

Although Heatley seems to have a bad attitude and could be a risk since he might not get along with AV

Although the forward corps would look pretty damn good.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Kesler-Wellwood/Sundin-Heatley
Raymond/Grabner-Hodgson/Wellwood-Bernier
Hordichuk-Johnson-Rypien

Salo-Mitchell
Edler-Kuba/Campoli
O'brien-UFA
Nycholat
Pope

Luongo
Sandman

If Sundin signs, then the first line will be
Kesler-Sundin-Heatley (100 goals)
Sedin-Sedin-Burrows (80 goals)

He is the exact opposite of the type of player that Gillis wants. Gillis wants team players with character and integrity, which Heatley seems to be lacking lately.

Heatly has as much chance of being a canuck as Shazzam letting SChumber89 lick his nutsack.

You are right and that is why he has a low trade value. He seems to be a cancer now rather than a 50 goal scorer.

And who would we get to replace Bieksa, and how would we have any money left to sign anyone else. You think we can afford to lose another top D man with ohlund gone, and replace him with some low cap hit plug?Never in a million years could this, or would this happen with the salary cap

I was only pointing out that we could get him because of the assets we have. Personally, It would be best if we didn't get him since the cap will go down and our defense would be much weaker but in reality we could get him and fit him under the salary cap.
