Offer Phil Kessel 3.9 x 5 years, we give up 1st and 3rd pick in 2010. Boston can't match that due to their cap. Kessel will be a 40+ goal scorer when he plays 82 games.

Sign Sergei Zubov 3mil x 1 year. He won the cup twice(including the 94 cup), he knows what it takes and will bring that experience to the team.
He'll put up even more great numbers with the canucks instead of a bad dallas team.

Grabner stays in the AHL for 1 more year until Demitra leaves.

Rome will prove himself get the 6th spot and SOB wont become a liabilty anymore. (Near the top in league-PIM, terrible offensively, cant score unless scoring in own goal counts, just a total liability everytime hes on the ice which costed us some games last season)

Sedin(6.1) sedin(6.1) burrows(2)
Kesler(1.75) Kessel(3.9) Demitra(4)
Raymond(.883) Hodgson(1.75) Bernier(2)
hordichuck(.775) johnson(1.1) rypien(.55)

Forwards-30.908

Salo(3.5) mitchel(3.5)
Zubov(3) edler(3.25)
Bieska(3.75) Rome(.5)

Defence-17.5

Luongo(6.75)
Backup(.75)

Goalies (7.5)

Cap-55.908

man should i be a GM or what??

Well i like getting Kessel for a 1st and a 3rd worth it IMO. But counting on Rome to be a 6th d-man is pretty wishful thinking. this guy has 26 career games. stats I think SOB is a better player then you are giving him credit for. sign him @ 1.25x3. that however would put us pretty close to the cap so unless Zubov signs for less im not sure if this would work out. Zubov is the type of guy we need though, puck mover and two rings
Here is your absolute, no-one-close surefire Quote of the Week and early Quote of the Season favorite, courtesy of the Canucks’ Kevin Bieksa.

Bieksa, in his first game back after spraining his MCL against the Flames last weekend, played somewhere between 12 and 14 minutes, depending upon who you believe, in the FIRST PERIOD of Sunday’s game with Chicago.

Said Bieksa, when informed of the stat:

“It [expletive] felt like it.”

No, you really shouldn't be a GM. Thank God you're not.

Zubov is possible if he wants to sign for cheap. That's a big if though, and probably not very likely. Kessel just isn't going to happen. We shouldn't be giving away our draft picks, and this would destroy our cap position. Think long term. Getting the biggest names out there doesn't mean anything but big contracts. Depth signings and players that fit our system are key. Kessel would be a great addition, but I don't think we can get him without doing more harm than good to our roster.

If Kessel signed that deal it is more good than bad.

Problem is, no way he signs that deal. And if he does, Boston matches guaranteed.

Chiarelli busts down the green wall with his raging erection at the thoughts of this deal. He busts a nut.

Kessel looks a lot like Parise did the year before he broke out.

I would work hard to get Kessel. He is worth the 1st and 3rd (keeping in mind that means vancouver gets no top three pick in the draft) and would be easier to re-sign once dead weight like demitra is gone. Also when it comes to re-signing other players, aside from the sedins, kesler, lu, and our prospects(coho, grabner, schroeder) is there really any player you wouldnt be willing to let go in exchange for having Kessel on a long term contract?
Sedin-Sedin-Shirokov
Samuelsson-Kesler-Burrows
Bernier-Wellwood-Raymond/Hansen
Rypien-Johnson-Hordichuk

Edler-Ehrhoff

Luongo
Raycroft (ugh..)

Kessel would be matched at 3.9.

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.

Bruins can easily move a guy like Marco Sturm who is making 3.5 so matching a 3.9 offer sheet wouldn't be that difficult. It would make much more sense to trade for Kessel. Obviously because Boston is up against the cap, picks and prospects make the most sense. Schnieder doesn't help because of Rask leaving us with Raymond, Hansen, Hodgson, Grabner and Schroeder and 2010 1st, 3rd-7th picks.
Boston would be asking for Hodgson and most likely that would be a pretty fair deal. I doubt anyone here wants Kesslel bad enough to give up what he is worth.

they want kaberle from toronto im wondering if we could package up sami salo i think he would waive his NTC boston is a nice city and has a good cup shot. and maybe ryamond/grabner and bernier or something along that lines.

we would still need a cheap you dman from somewhere enter your 1 and 3 for a RFA and go after barker i also think alzner from washington would be great but i dont think we have anything they would be intrested in.
OK, cue the children bumping their post counts to call me names.

2010 is a deep draft year...why the F**** would we trade our picks?
If Kessel signs for 3.9 x 5 he needs to fire his agent....
We don't have what the Bruins needs so I doubt if a trade is even a remote possiblity!
