Getting Beauchemin went out the window when he started asking for $4.5 million per season. It's too pricey for us. If we can get him to go for $3.5 million, then sure. But if not, he's too expensive.

I am okay with Kessel as he has a lot of potential and could be a great top 6 player in the top 6, but the cost for him might be too steep. Offer sheets are not the way to go as other GMs are not very fond of them, which will make it harder to make deals in the future (ie. Kevin Lowe). I could see Gillis try trading for him before they go into arbitration.

To get KESSEL is a piece of cake, but it will leave us weak on D still...
Here's how we get him without giving up too much.
1) Do the Schneider trade to Toronto for Kaberle.
2) Send Kaberle to Boston for Kessel
3) Sign Kessel.
4) Profit. 21 year old, franchise forward.
basically depending on what other players/picks are involved in the trade,
we would basically get kessel for schneider, and a hansen or pick and still get some
picks or prospects back from Boston.
If cap is an issue, next season we got Demitra off the books, so add another .5-1mil and we got Kessel
for years to come.
Or we could just trade for/sign barker.
