officially a vancouver canuck :)

I hope so.... pull the trigger MG! Samuelsson would be a very solid pickup, he has decent, consistent numbers. :D

Borderline? This guy has been a constant 40-point player getting 12-15 minutes on Detroit's third line. This guy is a top six forward on any other team.

Keep in mind, he also played on Detroit, 3rd line yes, but playing against 3rd line players.

He's signed!! So Im really hoping im wrong on this one!!

If he takes the place of burrows with the sedins, burrow's production drops...
If he plays on the second line with Kesler/Demitra...
Hodgson doesnt break the roster (because Hodgson will not be brought up to play on a 3rd line).
and if gillis juggles him around 2nd/3rd lines - well then that makes him "borderline" top 6! LOL

If he ends up here this would fit perfectly with Gillis philosophy. Definitely a moneyball target.
Learn what moneyball is , The signing of Samuelsson is just the opposite of what moneyball would be

Samuelsson is pretty versatile so I could see him filling various roles:

1. If Burrows does not pan out or goes cold with the Sedins, Samuelsson could be slotted in.

2. He could play wing on a line with Demitra and Kesler and add to the two-way ability of the line.

3. He could play on the third line and add more experience as well as skill to the bottom 6.

They are both right wingers

Doesn't really matter, as most wingers can line up at either wing.

I believe it is 3 years for 7.5m which is 2.5/season. (Here's the link and website I use http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283610

Good Signing MG!

Thanks to Canuckforever00 for the sig

I actually think Samuelsson has more offensive upside than he has been allowed to show. In my opinion, he could easily slot into a top 6 role.

I wonder if we could sign Samuelsson to a 2 or 3 year deal at about $2.5m per, then offer sheet Barker for $3.5m for 4 years.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Samuelsson - Kesler - Demitra
Bernier - Wellwood - Hodgson
Hordichuk - Johnson - Rypien
Hansen/Raymond

Salo - Mitchell
Bieksa - Edler
Barker - SOB
Rome

Luongo
Niittymaki

wow, so far you got 1 out of 2 correct. right on the number to. ;)

mmm..popcorn chicken=)

I'd rather take him and Sundin

Sedins/Grabner(Hodgeson)
Demitra/Sundin/Samuelsson
Burrows/Kesler/Bernier(Hodgeson)

Those are just off the top of the head, the possibilities are endless. I was just trying to think of lines where we could retain Burrows/Kesler as elite shutdowns (and thereby drive down Keslers re-signing value)

Its all whether or not we can sign Luongo to a contract extension...and i sure hope people on CDC arent thinking Samuelsson is a top 6 forward, this guy excelled in Detroit because he is a solid 2 way player, he also averages 5 shots a game! something this team needs.

Give us a call when you learn something about hockey, carl

No way in Hell will his value go down because of what line they put him on.If anything it would be lack of effort , and that's not going to happen

And Im pretty sure he can play the point on a powerplay.
