Awesome... I called it 2 days ago and again yesterday. Demo and Kesler can dish it up for this sniper - he's a shooter kids. No need for Sundin now. MG needs to spend the $$ on an offensive D-man and we're set.

I just checked out his stats from the Canucks main page - this guy loves to shoot the puck! He has averaged over 250 shots per year the last two seasons.

Linky

Could just be a Detroit thing... because they shoot the puck from just about anywhere.

Nice signing. This guy was stuck behind the top 2 lines in Det so he should up his points this season with more minutes here.

Sweden++

Has great post season experience also.

I am calling 3 year - 6M deal, 2M per year.

If that's true, that's a pretty good deal. Samuelsson has the potential to put up even bigger numbers if he gets more ice time.

He was not being paid much in Detroit, so I figure we signed him for not a lot.

"My Assistant" isn't working, and I'm not sure where I posted this, but this is the one guy I said I really wanted to get. He is obviously being brought in to work with the Sedins - and I think he might be a great fit. We'll see.

Very excited.

Samuelsson played with the Twins for Team Sweden a few years back...I think he will get a shot with them.

Had to get another swede to replace ohlund! Now come on back mats!!!
I was wrong. The Sedins are legit superstars and are IRREPLACEABLE.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

True, but it looks like he averaged about 16-17 minutes a game in Detroit Rock City - that's a lot of shots for that kind of ice-time.

He was on the 3rd line, got 12-15 minutes a game, and he can play the point on the PP. He had 7 PP goals last year. I really, really like this signing. Never doubted Gillis. :)

he has played the point on the powerplay for detroit and had been used mostly on a line with filppula and hudler. he loves to shoot the puck usually 3-9 per game and could be a good fit maybe second line with kesler

Interesting. Another 3rd liner.

Well, not the sniper everyone was hoping for, but a hard working 2-way player who has some size. What amazes me is last year he had 257 SOG and only scored 19 times. He is a little soft.

I imagine they'll be working with him as they will be with Bernier on burying his chances. He's certainly not afraid of shooting the puck.

Maybe they can find a role for him in the top 6.

Overall, I like it.
Busy cultivating useless good taste.

SUNDIN IS COMING. LOOK BUSY.

We're pretty much where I'd thought we'd be - out of the playoffs and no Demitra in the lineup. Coming in to this season anyone with a brain would be able to recognize that this isn't a playoff team, and they're performing just as I suspected they would.

I wonder why club policy is not to release financial terms? I mean, we find out eventually, so why make the public wait in the first place?
