O'Brien???

The Hawks aren't trading a young, top-4 dman with upside for a guy who can barely make an NHL roster and is a #6 at best.

Stupid comment.
please come up with a deal from any of the other 29 teams in the nhl that fits thier needs, cap wise and what they're looking for.

of course this trade would never happen if the circumstances were different, but they arn't.

It's all about the money... They cannot afford Barker, Kane, Toews, etc... the latter 2 are both RFA's next year, and will fetch 5 mil a piece each. Barker is the odd man out.

That being said... it will take more than just SOB to get Barker, seing as they would get 2nd round pick t the very least if somebody made an offer sheet.

That 2nd rounder > SOB... in theory.

Here's an idea

Flip O'Brien and a 2nd rounder for Patrick Sharp

Then sign Beauchiman, he is exactly what we need.

Hansen + O'Brien

for

Barker

This would be similiar to how Bernier was acquired. Make the offer to Chicago, if they arent receptive, offer sheet Barker for $3m + per season and they can have the 1st and 3rd rounder.

We need a puck mover- not a defensive defenseman. Plus, Beauchiman willl probably be too expensive considering we are already paying Willie 3.5.

Agreed - Patrick Sharp is a legitimate nhl star!!
Very under-appreciated and doesnt get the media attn like kane/toews do!!

Sharp @ 3.9mill per is arguably one of the best contracts in the nhl ...
Can't believe some of the reports out there make absolutely NO SENSE!!

Cant believe you dont understand the Hawks CAP situation!!

Sharp is a fantastic young forward with consistent 30 goal seasons ahead of him but they have to sign Toews AND Kane after this year and those guys are both AT THE VERY LEAST 5mil dollar players.

Its called a CAP people and sometimes you cant make hockey trades but are forced to make business trades.

Sharp is like Kesler but a little less physical and a better sniper.

I would love to have him, with the signing of Samuelsson I think we could see some guys leaving. Something like this I coudl see happening.

To Chicago:
Mason Raymond
Rights to Hansen
Rights to O'Brien
Taylor Ellington
2nd round pick

To Vancouver:
Patrick Sharp
Rights to Barker

Yea, And if they dish out Barker who is an RFA for someone like SOB and a couple of 2nd round picks, they dont have to worry about him and they have the money for Kane and Toews next year.

Agree 100%!!!

I like Beauchemin and his toughness he brings especially in front of his own net but he is NOT the best fit for what the Canucks need.

We need a quick, fleet of foot defenseman who can relieve pressure by skating the puck out and mkaing a good outlet to start on offensive rush i.e. Kaberle, Jack Johnson etc...

Please stop with the Beauchemin talks unless Bieksa gets moved. Then and only then will it makes sense.

that's what I'm saying, they dump almost 3 million in salary with a Sharp for O'brien trade.

We have around 5 mill in camp space

sign Beauchiman to a 5 year 19 million 3.8 cap hit.

We only need to sign Welly and Hansen.

It could work for sure.

That's it I'm calling Gillis and I'm going to give him the go ahead on these deals.

I'll let you guys know

it woudl take quite a good player/prospect in combination with O'Brien if in fact O'brien was what they were lookign for, the only guy we have they might want would be mitchell, and I'm not sure if I want Barker over Mitchell, though Barker is quite the player....

No way are we able to bring in Barker and Sharp without offloading some salary...Were tight as it is...Dont we only have somewhere around 6 mil left to be under the cap?

aah They are not going to trade Sharp unless its massive overpayment, not a bunch of guys that can barely crack our roster. Chicago is in a bad situation so why would they trade one of the best bargains in the league? They will not trade Sharp, maybe Barker, but not Sharp.

Cap Space 9.782

http://nhlnumbers.co...VAN&season=0910

Minus roughly 2.5 we should have around 7.282

So we lose a player like Raymond and both Sharp and Barker can fit under the cap.

If this were to happen though(us getting both) then we would have to trade Bieksa or else Kesler and Luongos most likely getting raises next year wouldn't fit. One of Salo, Mithcell or Bieksa would have to go, and Bieksa is the most tradable.

Of course i understand the CAP situation.
GM's dont make ridiculously stupid moves for CAP space purposes only!!

(no offense to john madden) but why bring him in @ 2.75 to move sharp @ 3.9?!? (saving of 1.15).

All im saying is Sharp wont be moved because of his salary or CHI's cap situation...
