However, I do agree with the majority of your post, I just think it's simply an overpayment, and not way like you said ;)

Fair enough ;)

Why would anybody be surprised that Columbus had to overpay Nash? They can't offer him the likelihood of winning - they've made the playoffs once. Plus, it's not like it's a big city, or close to his home. And he has to play for Hitchcock, so it certainly isn't a laid back, enjoyable atmosphere.

He had only one reason to stay: big money. If he didn't get it there, he could have got less-big money with a contender, or big money in another hole.

Good Call.

But I think Rick Nash is worth it. This guy is sick. Whos the best linemate hes had in his NHL career anyways. Look what he did with HC Davos during the NHL lockout with Joe Thornton on his line. Throw him on the wing with the Sedins and this guy scores 50 next year without breaking a sweat.

Put Rick Nash beside an elite centre, I'll bet he scores 60 goals. Good for Columbus for keeping their greatest asset long term.

Your ideas are original and unique.

When you say the phrase "puck moving defenseman," I think filthily of your mom.

As lovely as that possibility would be, Columbus would have a whole year to fix that mistake.

Ironically, with the size of his new deal, Columbus will never be able to afford an elite centre!

Who knows. But 7.8 for a 35 goal scorer is very steep. $8m is usually reserved for playmaking centers who also score 35 goals, not 70 point guys. Yeah, he has size, but I`m not convinced he has a mean streak, usues his size enough, or that size is even that huge a factor for the game these days. He`s no Iginla, so why give him 8m. I know kids here think OMG NASH WE NEED HIM NOT SOFT SISTERS LOL!! However, I don`t think he`s worth that much. Columbus will continue to do nothign for years to come.

Huge overpayment for a guy who has never cracked the 80 point mark.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

if given the chance to play the wing the entire season with the sedins you'll see burrows with 40 goals.
