I doubt anything happens.

But.

Can you imagine? Snagging Versteeg and Barker would absolutely amazing.

The fax got lost??? How does that affect a HOLIDAY in Canada? If the NHL DID rule in favour of the UFA side of the argument, I'd be thinking Dale Tallon would be the "former" GM of Chicago. Doesn't he already have one foot on a banana peel? This could become very interesting!

meh. If it was a team like Vancouver or Montreal making the mistake, the players would become unrestricted. BUT, since its a market like Chicago that has re-juvinated the leauge, theres no chance they go unrestricted.

Barker would be great. Brouwer wouldn't be so bad, either.

Bring the BC boys home!

Wow worst non-Millbury GM blunder ever?

Is she a dress wearer or a pants wearer? Could you share a rowboat? Could a rowboat support her? Would an average size rowboat support her without capsizing?

JOHNSON JOHNSON JOHNSON SIGN HIM GILLIS I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!! he would be the top of my list, then all the others in order of talent. A lot of teams may have taken themselves out of the bidding for these guys if they are looking to add. Rebuilding teams such as the Islanders, Wild, Leafs, and Canadiens would be huge into this.

If it is proven that they didn't file it correctly, then the players will become unrestricted. If Bettman let it slide, then the other 29 teams would be breaking down his door big time.

The problem with Bettman siding with Chicago on this, potentially, is that it will set a precedent for the rest of RFA negotiations, and teams will progressively take longer and longer to tender offers and constantly tinker and tamper more and more until it just gets ridiculous

Most likely Bettman would side with the NHL team.
Then the NHLPA would file a grievance on behalf of the listed players. From there? I would guess an arbitrator would have to decide their fate based on the facts provided.

"Additional sources say qualifying offers are not supposed to be mailed.
Overnight delivery via courier and direct fax to the players agent is preferred and certified or registered mail is acceptable only if the other means are unavailable."

Were they trying to save money on postage?

If Bettman sides with the Hawks, mark my words, all hell will break loose.......

Versteeg or Barker please. Wow, they'll be the youngest quality UFA's in the history of the NHL if this were to happen.

It sucks because all young players are RFA's. :P

dont forget the nhlpa is involved they will not let it slide in any way shape or form they will want them to be UFA if they are legally entitled to it.
