No it does not need to be talked about because it is completely pointless and is a "what if" scenario which does not have to be brought up. How about remembering him for other reasons than the spot he would have filled / how many points he could of chalked up for your hockey team.

It's still bullshiet that the Rangers got compensation and we didn't.

Luc unfortunately died in a freak accident while riding his motorbike. Aleksei's death was caused by faulty medicare and the fact he was doping in the first place but because he wasn't signed to a contract, the Rags got rewarded for a prospect partially to blame for his own death which he knew doping was wrong in the first place?

It's not so much the 3rd round pick, I believe, I don't even care about the pick, as it is principle. The guy is cheating and the Rags are rewarded? Why the hell should that happen? You don't need to be college to see that this is a load of garbage

I understand there should be cut off point for receiving compensation for something unfortunate happening to a prospect (death, severe injury), but why not after the NHL entry level contract expires?

If we don't get a pick, the Rangers shouldn't either. If the Rangers do get one, then we should too. It's only fair.

You will be missed. Farewell and best of luck, Markus.

There is no need to bring this up. The 'What if' situation does not apply here because he is no longer with us, and would have been a different situation if we traded him at a young age rather than him passing away :(

I agree with this 100%. Remembering Luc is about remembering who he was, and not as a lost asset to a hockey team.

And to the person complaining about the Rangers getting that extra draft pick, I wouldn't get all worked up about it if I were you. It was a completely classless move by the Rangers and everybody knows that. If they want to try to benefit from the tragic death of a bright young hockey player, that's their problem. They're the ones that have to live with themselves. Like I said, it's not about a lost asset to a hockey team, it's about remembering the person. The Canucks knew that. Apparently, the Rangers didn't.

The compensation has nothing with the NHL doing favors for the Rangers. Compensation has happened as recently as when the Wild didn't sign A.J. Thalen.

Let Luc rest in peace. Plain and simple. He died in a freak accident. Enough of the what if's. I'm sure his family doesn't need reminding of the "what ifs" either!! Show the man some respect and dignity!!!!

couldnt agree more, enough with the what ifs and all the rest surrounding him. We all know what would have been a great career for a young stud on defence for the canucks.
