He should come back.

Twins
Samuelsson
Burrows
Kesler
Demitra
Sundin
Grabner
Hodgson
Raymond
Bernier
Wellwood

Anyone else we acquire

It's not the greatest top 6 or top 9 even, but those are the potential line juggling matchups.

You will be missed. Farewell and best of luck, Markus.

The one thing I noticed about Sundin last year was how bad and lost he was in the defensive zone, did anyone else notice?

Sign him only if he is coming to training camp, and playing the season.

1M for 1 Year, plus a 2 mil signing bonus, plus a 2 mil bonus at the end of the year if he reaches a certain level of pt. production. Low cap hit, one last kick at the can.

Sundin is too slow to play with Kesler. Put Hodgson on line 2 and get a puckmoving Dman a la Zubov

If Sundin does indeed come back then we're up for a trade :S

I read in the in Sun today that Samuelsson is expected to be in a top 6 role? How does this all work?

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Demitra - Sundin - Kesler
Bernier - Hodgson - Samuelsson
Hordichuk - Johnson - Rypien

pretty smexxi :)

....BUT BUT BUT shouldn't Grabner deserve a fair shot & what about Wellwood?!

Creditz to lovekesler for my 'frick-frack'ian sig!
Backstrom-Dumont-Bergeron
Langkow-Plekanec-Rolston
Visnovsky-Spacek
Kuba-Babchuk
Huet

Um Im pretty sure Wellwood is going to be in the line-up. Maybe replacing Horidchuk or Rypien.

But Grabner I think is gonna spend another year with the moose. Just in case.

Mats coming back for a full year would be awesome. Would put us over the top.
I was wrong. The Sedins are legit superstars and are IRREPLACEABLE.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

he looked lost and hesitate to do anything with the puck whenever he had it. But he still averaged 3 points every 4 games on his abilities and the hard work and talent of Demitra and Kesler.

People say he was slow due to his age. I would like to disagree. I thought he was slow because he just didn't know what to do in a Canucks uniform, and therefore was afraid of doing something stupid.

If he can come back and play another full season in a smaller role I think he could be quite effective.

Or I could be all wrong....

i do believe that when mats became used to the way the game is played he did really good. The first couple months mats was below average but once he got back in shape he did progress and become the old mats sundin and it showed in the playoffs. so i think we should re-sign him but only if he is ready to play a whole season and attend training camp and if he takes a slight pay cut in the 3-4Mill range

I'm on the fence about Sundin. If he is in shape and plays the full season, fine, but he took his time getting to playing level last year, and you could see how much work it was for him. Obviously he'd need to be a low cap hit, and whether it is worth getting rid of excess (young) players to accommodate him is debatable.

I'd like sundin to sign here but for a lot less money than last year

+1
if he really wants to win and it's not about the money for him anymore he'll sign for less and work hard to become a big part of our team again

I think we should sign Sundin 1year 3M. He would do a lot better if he plays from the beginning of the year to the end, and he would help out the team a lot especially someone like Hodgson.

8 mil left, we have, kaberle 4.25 then that would give sundin like 2.5 mil left. and the rest for backup.

I love the numerous posts about Calgary's cap trouble, then this epic fail.

The Canucks have 7.2 million in cap space.

That's with Aaron Rome, and Lawrence Nycholat as your 5 and 6 d-men. They also have 11 forwards under contract.

The Canucks need to bring in 3 more players. They easily have the cap space for this, but the problem is if they bring in Kaberle who do they plan on shipping out?

So the plan for Canucks fans is to bring in Kaberle, without giving up any roster spots. Then sign Sundin for under 3 million...... right.

The Canucks will not be bringing in any top 4 d-men. They will be signing 1 or 2, 5 and 6 pairing d-men. That will leave them with 5 million in cap space and 2 more forwards to sign. It took you 10 million to lure away Sundin last year, and now he is going to come for under 3?

It would certainly buys some time for our prospects to develop further, while remaining competative. Although I would really rather MG take a legit run at KESSEL. Landing him for similar pay would be waaay better. Getting a guy of that caliver at 21 would be a VERY solid move, giving us a young foundation for upcoming years.

That article was written before Samuelsson signed. Perhaps that changes the Canucks interest and ability to sign Sundin.
Busy cultivating useless good taste.

SUNDIN IS COMING. LOOK BUSY.
QUOTE (Dirtbag#1 @ Nov 3 2008, 11:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We're pretty much where I'd thought we'd be - out of the playoffs and no Demitra in the lineup. Coming in to this season anyone with a brain would be able to recognize that this isn't a playoff team, and they're performing just as I suspected they would.
