Luongo to Montreal

Either he gets resigned to a reasonable contract 6 - 6.5 over 5 years or we trade him. And it needs to happen this summer, or we'll lose him to UFA next year.
I think that Montreal will be the one of the only if not the only city he would be willing to waive his NTC for, coincidentally I think they have the best to offer in return considering we're losing an amazing goalie.
To Montreal:
Luongo
Hansen/Raymond
To Vancouver:
Price
Pacioretty
1st round pick 2010
1st round pick 2011
Conditional 3rd Round pick 2010 or 2011 if he resigns
We get a young goalie with a lot of potential and could even split duties with Schnieder if we wanted.
The little I saw of Pacrioretty I was really impressed, he wont make an impact right away, but his upside is enormous and could be an excellent power forward.
The whole deal is pretty inline with the Pronger - Flyer trade, let me know what you think.
2010 NHL Half-Season Pool Auction
David Krejci - 220
Steven Stamkos - 70
Derick Brassard - 15
Kris Versteeg - 25
Ryan Getzlaf - 200
Drew Stafford - 5
Andy McDonald - 5
Bobby Ryan - 20
Niklas Backstrom - 410
David Perron - 10

I don't get why you are trying to trade a FRANCHISE goalie for a younger goalie? We get ripped off since Price hasn't proven anything and this is completely different than the Pronger trade. Luongo is relatively young and can play for 10 more years while Pronger is getting old and his play is declining. There is no way in hell I would trade Luongo unless he wants out.

Its not that I WANT to trade him.
I'm just being realistic here. This is a business.
If Luongo is demanding 7-8 mil a season long term to stay in Vancouver, its time for MGs Moneyball to come into effect.
This is too much for him and we all know it. Broduer makes 5.25. End of argument.
You may be right on the trade not having enough value, so if you replace Price with Markov would that appeal to you anymore?

I'd be interested to see what the Canadiens would be willing to give up though. I think you might be overstating Luongo's value in trade as an impending UFA with a big salary headed down the pipeline. Especially given the corner Gainey has painted the Habs into with their cap situation for the next 5 years and big money committed to some talent up front.
I still see Philly as one of the more realistic options (if you can call it that at all) for trading Luongo. If the Flyers could get Briere to come back the other way as part of a package, they'd probably be able to finnagle a way to make their cap situation work, while finally sorting out their goaltending question which has plagued them year after year for most of recent memory. And i believe Luongo would be somewhat enticed by the obvious skill the Flyers have built up across the board, and realize that with solid goaltending, they would be a SERIOUS contender for a good while to come.

If Lu's willing to waive his NTC for the flyers and we have Carter coming the other way, I'd be all ears.

Although, even if he walked next year ( God forbid ) then the Canucks would have a huge chunk of cash to spend, and that could be good.

I'm happy with Price. He'd probably step it up infront of his hometown. MaxPac is probably Montreal's top prospect, and if their new signings pan out, those 3 first rounders will be 15-25 spot so we'd be amazing for the future.

haha. wouldn't we all though! i would be absolutely ecstatic, but i just don't see Philly giving up Carter for anything really. Him and Richards are going to be the face of that franchise for many years to come.

Agreed, anything over 6.5 or maybe 7 isn't worth it, we need to trade him now if he wants more.
Luongo should be worth more than Pronger rite now so maybe we could even get more than Price,Pacio,2 1st rounders...........especially if we're adding Raymond

I'm looking at it like Luongo straight up for Nash and the Sedin's for cheap young superstars Filatov,Brassard,Mason and a 1st rounder, No way does CLB do this.........
