The goaltender is the only player in NHL that can control the game. 'nuff said.

When your Western team plays your Eastern team, is it win/win or lose/lose????

Its not that I WANT to trade him.

I'm just being realistic here. This is a business.

If Luongo is demanding 7-8 mil a season long term to stay in Vancouver, its time for MGs Moneyball to come into effect.

This is too much for him and we all know it. Broduer makes 5.25. End of argument.

You may be right on the trade not having enough value, so if you replace Price with Markov would that appeal to you anymore?

This isn't too much for Luongo. You're just cheap as hell. Give him the damn money. It will put pressure on him and he will win a Stanley Cup within his contract. Price is Cloutier 2.0. Cracks under pressure often.

I don't get why you are trying to trade a FRANCHISE goalie for a younger goalie? We get ripped off since Price hasn't proven anything and this is completely different than the Pronger trade. Luongo is relatively young and can play for 10 more years while Pronger is getting old and his play is declining. There is no way in hell I would trade Luongo unless he wants out.

Why do you guys ALWAYS start spinning the PRE LOCKOUT league when talking about Luongo. I swear you purposefully let your brain fall out and judge Luongo differently than every other NHL player. You know the players have more power and there is a SALARY CAP now , right?

Luongo is 30 years old and he will be a UFA next year. Hes not 22 years old and locked up for the next 10 years. Luongo is NOT going to sign a long term contract UNLESS its for 8mil. Why should he? He can just make excuses like the Sedins did last year and become a UFA.

The closer he marches to UFA status, the better his deal becomes. So unless hes willing to sign for 6mil for 5 years, TRADE the guy before he MILKS us for way too much or just walks away for NOTHING.

If you love the guy so much then YOU pay him the 8 mil. You DEMAND the owner pay Luongo whatever he wants?

Based on what? The big GOOSE EGG of awards and cups he has won in his career?

While im on the subject............Do you have the stats for Cloutier in the (in)famous Wild series of 2003 and compare them to Luongos now (in)famous Chicago series?

Then take into consideratioin Luongo is PAID to steal games, Cloutier was not.

To Columbus:

Roberto Luongo, The Sedins, Michael Grabner, Jannik Hansen, Mason Raymond, 2nd in 2010.

To Vancouver:

Rick Nash, Nikita Filatov, Derrick Brassard, Steve Mason, 1st in 2010.

Kinda Crazy, but fair for both sides.

Fixed.

I was thinking:

Luongo = Mason and 1st
Sedin Sedin = Nash and Brassard
Grabner, Hansen, Raymond, 2nd = Filatov

I highly doubt Columbus will do this though. It's a huge deal.

I wanted to stop right after reading this but I was like hmmm let's see how stupid this guy really is and. The I saw Chris mason in the deal FYI it's Steve not Chris

But anyways here is a proposal for thought,

To AC Milan

Roberto Luongo

To Canucks

Bekham and a townhouse in Italy

it's fair, we get a star striker who is s celebrity... And a house!!!!!

And luo gets to go back to Italy

Then we trade Bekham and our first rounder for Brian Burke to come and GM for us

Then with our cap room from trading luongo we sign Burke to a 100 million ten year deal

then we give the house in Italy to Pat Quinn if he coaches us

foolproof plan

Please explain to me why 8mil over 5 years isn't too much? I'm not cheap, i'm a realist and i'm looking out for my team in the future.

Also Price is only 21, you can't compare a young rookie to anyone.

~ Are you people seious??? Trade the Sedins after everything that we did to re-sign them? I don't understand the logic there, really.

~ If Lou doesn't re-up for 7 mill, we should maybe look at getting Hiller next year?

Wow, why would the MG complete this trade . Trading Luongo = No playoffs. in Return for Luongo were getting an unproven underachieving goalie in Price and getting a great prospect and a couple of first rounders. No roster players at all?!? This trade would put our team into extreme trouble for a couple of years. If MG ever considers trading our franchise Goalie , we should get equal value in terms of the immediate future.

All in all , extreme fail.

I would take this trade in a second. I do not want to see this team be paying 8 million for Luongo.

Honestly, it's getting to the point where he's over-rated. As much as I hate to say it, his name is almost worth an extra 2 million on top of what his skill is worth.
woooo no sig!!!

With the rumors that Luongo is looking near 8mil a season, I think its time for MG to look at moving him.

Either he gets resigned to a reasonable contract 6 - 6.5 over 5 years or we trade him. And it needs to happen this summer, or we'll lose him to UFA next year.

I think that Montreal will be the one of the only if not the only city he would be willing to waive his NTC for, coincidentally I think they have the best to offer in return considering we're losing an amazing goalie.

To Montreal:
Luongo
Hansen/Raymond

To Vancouver:
Price
Pacioretty
1st round pick 2010
1st round pick 2011
Conditional 3rd Round pick 2010 or 2011 if he resigns

We get a young goalie with a lot of potential and could even split duties with Schnieder if we wanted.

The little I saw of Pacrioretty I was really impressed, he wont make an impact right away, but his upside is enormous and could be an excellent power forward.

The whole deal is pretty inline with the Pronger - Flyer trade, let me know what you think.

Can't trade him... NTC in contract.

Fantasy if fun for you I guess, but can't trade him so either the Canucks re-sign over the nexzt 12 months or they start the 2010-11 season with a new No. 1 and a bunch of CAP space. Not that ocmplicated yet there are dozens of threads that seem to ignore the basic facts.
