If Carey Price DOES crash and burn, Schneider gets some experience in the NHL, and the two first round picks will go as compensation for his.. crashing and burning
The only downside I see is no one will tutor Schneider, as I believe that he could learn much more from Luongo than Price

Source? You talked to him?
Waive or not, GM has to ask and Canuck GM will not.
Trade talk is premature, at best.

You don't need a source to know that someone would love to play in their hometown, don't patronize me
If MG can't come to terms on an extension this summer, he would be wise to bring up the subject.
If no extension is signed this summer, we will lose him to UFA next year, or end up signing him to an overpriced contract.
Trade talk should be imminent, pending no deal comes through soon
2010 NHL Half-Season Pool Auction

You still don't get it. MG said he will NEVER ask ANY player to waive at NTC in their contract. There is incredibly value in having an organization that honours such deals and MG knows that.
There is a YEAR to sign BLou just as there was a year to re-up the Sedins. Like with the Sedins, there was no rush and given their strong year and playoffs, it made it easier to make the commitment and they both wanted to be part of the winning future. No reason Luongo situation wouldnt be similar.
So, you do need a source as the player has in all public statements made it clear he would not ask for a trade and MG has made it clear he would never ask so nothing "imminent" can occur.....
Canucks losing him to UFA is better than being known as an organization that doesn't honour contracts....MG knows this.....many on CDC don't seem to get it.

My philosophy has always been not to waive a no-trade clause. If a player comes to us and is dissatisfied or feels they might have a better opportunity elsewhere, obviously we would listen and try to accommodate those wishes.
But I am not going to ask a player to waive a no-trade.
"But I am not going to ask a player to waive a no-trade."

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.
