This is actually a nice trade, in my opinion
If Carey Price DOES crash and burn, Schneider gets some experience in the NHL, and the two first round picks will go as compensation for his.. crashing and burning
The only downside I see is no one will tutor Schneider, as I believe that he could learn much more from Luongo than Price

Credit to Canuckman3, Rozzy91 for Luongo Stare sig and Mats Sundin for rotation!

He would waive it for his hometown of MTL

Source? You talked to him?

Waive or not, GM has to ask and Canuck GM will not.

Trade talk is premature, at best.

Alex Burrows, I fail to see the reason why nobody questions his ability to play in the nhl. He can't skate; its ridiculous. IMOP Alex Burrow's an embarrassment to the team. Please Gillis let this guy go and keep Krog or Pettinger or Brown whoever.

We could of signed Hossa or Camalleri. You know what other teams think of us? Gay club. The Sedins are playing like homosexuals.

the Canucks' GM sells houses. How's his opinion any more expert, as you implied, than a pop singer?

I'm gonna laugh my donkey off in April when the Flames finish the season with way more goals than the Canucks and a division title.

You don't need a source to know that someone would love to play in their hometown, don't patronize me

If MG can't come to terms on an extension this summer, he would be wise to bring up the subject.

If no extension is signed this summer, we will lose him to UFA next year, or end up signing him to an overpriced contract.

Trade talk should be imminent, pending no deal comes through soon

2010 NHL Half-Season Pool Auction

David Krejci - 220
Steven Stamkos - 70
Derick Brassard - 15
Kris Versteeg - 25
Ryan Getzlaf - 200
Drew Stafford - 5
Andy McDonald - 5
Bobby Ryan - 20
Niklas Backstrom - 410
David Perron - 10

You still don't get it. MG said he will NEVER ask ANY player to waive at NTC in their contract. There is incredibly value in having an organization that honours such deals and MG knows that.

There is a YEAR to sign BLou just as there was a year to re-up the Sedins. Like with the Sedins, there was no rush and given their strong year and playoffs, it made it easier to make the commitment and they both wanted to be part of the winning future. No reason Luongo situation wouldnt be similar.

So, you do need a source as the player has in all public statements made it clear he would not ask for a trade and MG has made it clear he would never ask so nothing "imminent" can occur.....

Canucks losing him to UFA is better than being known as an organization that doesn't honour contracts....MG knows this.....many on CDC don't seem to get it.

Go find a large rock, flip it over, dig a hole under where it was, jump in the hole, have some flip the rock back on you(maybe Luongo can do it), and curl up and die. Luongo is here to stay, AND why do you want so many draft pick, AND get over Price ppl, hes overratted and gets rattled WAYYYYY too ez.

~ I love Lou & all that he brings to the game. He's said that he believes in this team, and he wants to be part of it. Not that different than what the Sedin boys said, even down to preferring to stay put. So it all comes back to money, yet again. ~ Maybe he should take a page out of Crosby's book and sign for less for the good of the team. Isn't that what a captain is supposed to do???~ And if he's not interested, I think we'd have a shot at signing Hiller next year.
When your Western team plays your Eastern team, is it win/win or lose/lose????

MIKE GILLIS: Well, you know, having been on the player’s side for a number of years, I know that there is a quid pro quo that goes along with no-trade or no-movement clauses. The players are making a commitment to that city and team for a variety of reasons. There’s a price to be paid for that commitment and the security of not moving.

My philosophy has always been not to waive a no-trade clause. If a player comes to us and is dissatisfied or feels they might have a better opportunity elsewhere, obviously we would listen and try to accommodate those wishes.

But I am not going to ask a player to waive a no-trade.

"But I am not going to ask a player to waive a no-trade."

Edler point prediction: 12 goals, 33 assists and 45 points / Edler point counter: 0 goals, 7 assists and 7 points.
