It this is true (I'm not convinced) there's one team that's in cap trouble and has pubicly stated that they're looking for a shutdown defenseman. And that team is the Chicago Blackhawks.

Other teams in cap trouble include: Boston, Calgary, Detroit, Philly, Pittsburgh and San Jose.

Thats who I thought of right away..for the reasons you stated.

This source seems completely fake.

"my rules, I cant get identified, my sources are primary as I have a front office job in the NHL, all reports confirmed 2 source min"

"side note congrats to TBay for turning things around, a long ways away from the 6 years i spent with them in the early 90s"

"Twittering out of New Jersey"

Wouldn't all this information give away who this person is to the NHL?

Apparentltly Beauchemin has verbally agreed to sign with a team with cap issues, Beauchemin has given them 48 hrs to properly give him an offer and to make a trade so that theya re not in cap issues.

Also Anaheim has lowballed him

the dominos are starting to fall!

I really really like what Beauchemin has done here, he has been very very patient, waited until Team Canada named him to the summer roster and let his stock grow..

I wonder what team he has chosen, Philly? SJ to stay in California? Calgary? ahah can you imagine!

Beauchemin has to be one of the most overrated players in the league.

Lets take a look

Beauchemin
2008-09
GP: 20
G:4
A:1
P:5
+/-: -3

Beauchemin missed 69 games with a torn ACL this past season, 5 points in 20 games for a projected 20 points in a full season. -3 playing with an offensively powerful Anaheim Ducks squad and a good young goaltender in Jonas Hiller. Why in the hell is there so much hype for this guy?

Ahh man! He's agreed to play with a team! I would have thought he was going to retire and pursue figure skating!! WOW!! ...with a team.

You are foolish for even putting Calgary in your list of teams.

I am going to say either the Kings or Toronto.

And your foolish for putting kings or toronto as they don't have cap problems.

why not he is a free agent, and a lot of the teams with cap issues are great places to play with a great fan base,(philly, montreal, detroit, chicago) so if a team can afford him and fit him under the cap then he wont care if they have cap issues or not

I thought salary cap issues weren't a big deal in the summer, until some time in September (before pre-season, isn't it?)?

Or is the team wanting to make sure they can trade someone so they don't get stuck with a crappy trade...

Boston, can't land Kaberle so they're going after Beachemin.

New York Rangers, cause Sather doesn't understand the concept of long term contracts hampering him in the future cap wise.

My number one guess though is the Flyers, considering how much they gave up for Pronger, I think they're going for broke and giving up all their assets to go for it all in one season.

Take away Nieds and Pronger and wake up kids. One of the most over rated Dman in the NHL besides Bowm.

Sorry, but this a post by someone who has no clue what they're talking about. There's a reason he was invited to team canada's camp and none of the canucks d were. Mitchell and Bieksa are the overrated ones.
I was wrong. The Sedins are legit superstars and are IRREPLACEABLE.
Common Myths:
1. A 2 way contract means you can be sent down without clearing waivers. False - All it means is you get paid an ahl salary if sent down and has nothing to do with waivers.
2. You can buyout a player any time during the year. False - There's a specific buyout period window when teams are allowed to buyout players.
3. Sending a rookie down before they played 10 nhl games saves a year on their entry level contract. False - This only applies to CHL players like hodgson who aren't 20 yet and not to players like Shirokov.

Wth? Who cares if they have cap issues, if he wants to go there and they offer him a contract, he'll go there. If they want him, obviously they'll make room for him..

They don't have the cap space for all those players... not even close. And you don't even know if Backlund will make the team, I watched him play Junior in Kelowna, he's a great player but I don't know if he'll make the NHL first try.
