Hansen>>>>>>>>>>>Raymond

I can not believe the amount of people that put so much "potential" on Raymond but fail to see that Hansen is much better. Hansen had his rookie season and put up almost the same amount of points as Raymond did with around twenty less games played.

How come Raymond is considered to have a higher value than Hansen on the team?

I bet MG wants to sign him, but there isn't much room for him. It doesn't help that he keeps nagging for a 1 way contract, because when the time comes, he wouldn't enjoy being a healthy scratch. Which means we might waive him.

i think people forget that hansen was drafted in the 9th round. we should be happy that we actually drafted a player from one of the later rounds who happens to be successful thus far. 21 points in 55 games in his rookie season is very good.

First Off Raymond will develop into a more all round player than Hansen. Raymond has the possibility of being a second or third liner in the league hansen is a 3rd liner at the best of times 4th line plumber the rest of the time .

Completely different expectations from both players

Raymond was a 2nd round draft choice #51 overall in 2005 from Camrose Kodiaks AJHL.

Raymond has played more games and has scored 14 more goals and 9 more assists in 61 more games. But how much ice time did Raymond see in those extra games 5-10 minutes game time more than likely. Little to no PP time. PK time near the end of last year finally.

Hansen was a 9th round draft choice # 287 overall in 2004 from Malmo Jrs [sweden]

In Hansen's first year in Portland he put up decent numbers but has since been unable to do so at an NHL Level but has added good scoring at an AHL level.

Hansen is not as flashy, which is why less people notice him. He'll never score as many goals as Raymond but is a MUCH better team player; he passes more and is more reliable defensively. That said, I think Raymond will turn out as a more important player down the road.

So I guess everyone should've given up on Burrows and Kesler. Nothing stood out for those guys too when they were 4th line pugs. You can't say a player is going to be just cuz they are big or fast. You have to be a total package with good hockey sense. You can't rely on one attribute. Note how Wellwood beat Kesler in the puck handling competition even though Kesler had like a 2 stride advantage when he touched the puck first.
