BladesOfSteel
I had the 7th pick 1.Getlaf 2.Luongo 3.Hossa 4.Lecavelier 5.Kovalev I tend to pick my D a bit later as a hockey pool is based around just racking up stats.
Ace of Spades
One guy to take late in your draft as a safe steal is Brooks Laich, plays for the Caps and had 50+ points last year. But definetely take a goalie in the 1st or 2nd round, since most of the good netminders are snapped up pretty quick.

G.K. Chesterton
Deep Sleepers this year are. 1. Vermette 2. Havlat. Not a deep sleeper but expect him to show up in minnesota 3. Paul Kariya 4. Tim Connelly ( injury problem ) 5. Andy Mcdonald 6. Bernier 7. Shirokov ( only if you have bench players ) The truth about hockey pools is its not the first 10 players you take that win the pool. Its the last 5. What about E. Johnson, P. Stastny and Ryan Whitney? All the pools I've been in (3 Yahoo pools) I've often been able to pick them up in the late rounds.
FireGillis
Take shirokov late as a sleeper! Unless they're canucks fans they won't know about him.
Kottonmouthed
Mat Hunwick would be a great late pick same with Alex Ebbett. Shirokov and Gilroy could be high risk, high reward picks. Goaltenders gets a lot of points so the big names in net are ones. If you want to grab some sleepers there would be Rinne, Varlamov, Quick, and possibly Crawford who could push Huet as the #1 guy in Chicago. Minnesota player should see an increase in points as Lemaire is out as coach. Koivu and Burns are some safe bets to increase on their offesnive games. Down by the River
what about tavares pominville for d. brown t. kaberle How are points scored. Are rookie goals worth more? If not, Brown and Kaberle is the better tandem.

coolin
Im in 3 professional pools this year. 200$ entry to each. The fact that you got Jokinen past 50 players means your pool has nobody with any skill. ( except you ??) Nice Early pick with Heatley, Where did Vinny L go ? Ya I thought Jokinen was my draft steal, I hate the Flames but think he will put up huge numbers. Him and Marleau went super later in our draft. Vinny went pretty high in the top 15 picks. Thanks for the props. Varlamov is my dark horse pick. If he doesn't start I'll be missing out some points. But if he does, Washington will be a force this year. cytokine
Boyle is better. In the pool that I am there's a great emphasis on PP, so I'm thinking Gonchar might do better in this regard.

AmazingNuck
Is the potential upside of Visnovsky better than what Niskanen would bring? I have Wideman, Gonchar, Erik Johnson, Suter, and Bogosian. Should I take the risk and go with Visnovsky or go with Niskanen, who'd be a safer pick at this point? Also, Vis beats Nis in +/- and PPP. There's no PIMs.
