I'm doing a pool with a bunch of my friends on CBC but whenever we make our picks they always change when we look back at them. What's going on?

Okay, so I'm joining my friend's pool and I need some advice as to who might be some dark horses or sure fire picks.

The pool works this way:

Each team will consist of 24 players

- 12 forwards (6 from each conference)
- 8 defenseman (4 from each conference)
- 4 Goalies (2 from each conference)

How the Points are Tallied:

Players

Goals: 1pt
Assists: 1pt
OT Goals: 1pt
Game Winning Goals: 1pt

Goalies

Assist: 1pt
Goal: 1pt
Win: 2pts
Shutout: 3pts

Here are my rough picks so far:

WEST
6 Forwards
Henrik Sedin
Kane
Hossa
Zetterberg
Marleau
Franzen

4 Defensemen
Lidstrom
Rafalski
Keith
??

2 Goalies
Niemi
Luongo

EAST
6 Forwards
Ovechkin
Crosby
Vanek
Parise
Backstrom
Semin

4 Defensemen
Green
Pronger
Gonchar
??

2 Goalies
Ryan Miller
Fleury
Theodore?
Brodeur?

Any suggestions would be great! Who is always clutch?

Thanks guys!

Neimi and Luongo will likely meet in the second round. Edge Luongo on that one so I'd say pick Nabokov or Howard unless your a pheonix faithful go with brizgalov

Okay, I'm in a points-only playoff league. Goals and assists worth the same amount. 14 players per team, no goalies. What do you guys think of my team?

Malkin
D. Sedin
Hossa
Laich
Langenbrunner
Filppula
Pominville*
Knuble
Kunitz
M. Richards*
Letang
Bolland (hopefully he can be clutch like last post-season)
Grabner (hopefully he can stick with the team during the playoffs)
* I have doubts they make it past the first round.

I am in a Fantasy Keeper League and our 2010 Entry draft is starting. I have the #3 overall pick. My defensive prospects are stacked but lacking on the forwards. I am infavor of taking a forward over Gudbranson, but haven't completely ruled him out.

So my question is, which forward has the highest upside, who will most likely reach it, and who will overall be the best prospect?

Ryan Johansen
Brett Connolly
Nino Niederreiter
Jeff Skinner
Mikael Granlund
other?

Either Connolly or Johansen IMO.

Connolly could end up to be one of the most skilled players available, and Johansen is a big young center who will probably play with Rick Nash in a couple years.

I'd still go with Gudbranson though. ;)

Nino Niederrreiter would probably be the best pick. He got drafted by a weak team (NYI) and will most likely play right away, seeing as he is NHL ready, big, and on a weak team that should give him a chance.

Brett Connolly isn't a bad pick also, he was drafted by a fairly weak team also (TBL). He should be Top 6 next year IMO, or maybe he gets antoher WHL season in, seeing as he missed pretty much all of it this season.

Ryan Johansen was drafted by a Columbus team that is looking for Centers. He will play with Nash in the future, as Nash has yet to have a legitimate center.

But one thing I learned from pools, Defence is the key to winning pools, it all depends if the Defencemen points are higher then the Forwards points though. Having a deep Defence is never a bad thing.

If you're looking for a safer bet, go for Niederreiter. I'm assuming he'll also be playing in the NHL next season.

If you're looking for the highest upside, it's definitely Connolly IMO. He's a little bit risky with his injury problems and what not, and I doubt he sees NHL action for another year or two, but he's the most talented.

With that said, I think you should go for the BPA and take Gudbranson. Trade one of your defensive prospects for a forward prospect if you can.

Connolly kid's got skill, If he wasn't injured, He would have dominated the WHL. Playing with Stamkos & St.Louis will only help him.

This is not a "pool" in that we get points as our players get points in real life. It is a sim league that rates players based on their real life production.

I am afraid that Niederreiter is over hyped because of his WJC performance.

Yup, But that solidified him as a top 10 pick. Showed lots of leadership & determination to help Switzerland. Single handily beat Russia by himself.

But my safe bet is Connolly, If he avoids injuries in his career he sure will be a star.

After all that, I traded the pick. I traded down to #10 and hope to pick up Jack Campbell, since I lack a future franchise goalie.

Im already comtemplating my hockey pools next year. Im in 5 different pools Entry fee 100$ and they are serious pools..

I have been looking at Johnny T alot but wanted to see what you guys think he will do next season.

First year he went 82 Games, 24 Goals, 30 Assists for 54 points.

Whats his range going to be this year ?

Im guess 81 Games, 30 Goals and 40 Assists for 70 points, Agree ??

14 people, Snake draft, new players every year. 11 forwards, 3D and 1G

Also, 2 points for a goal, 1 for an assist, only other points are for Goalies...
